From an empty tank I can only get 7-8 gallons before the pump shuts off. The gauge is at 3/4 at that point. I am aware of the issues of overfilling but I don't think that's the case here, it must be something else.

mmarreco started following Fueling problem 2013 FFH
-
Hello, hope someone can give me some clue on how to solve this issue: 2013 FFH with 170k miles. It has become increasingly difficult to fill up the tank completely. The pump shuts off around 3/4 and then I can only proceed by pumping little by little, waiting some time in between pumping. It seems to be an EVAP problem, however I don't have a CEL on or any trouble codes (per ForScan). I have seen the TSB 13-6-01, but it appears to not apply in this case as the trouble only happens when the tank is 3/4 full. I have tried different gas stations and inserting the fuell filler upside down but it makes no difference. Any ideas on how to troubleshoot this would be much appreciated!

Yes, I have gotten a key on ebay. Had a locksmith cut it and the dealer programmed it. Works fine.

I lost 5MPGs going from Michelins to Continentals PureContact low resistance. Can't wait to wear them out to go back to Michelin.

If you are going to be changing your oil I recommend a Fumoto valve, forget about the gasket.

I replaced the original Michelins with Continental PureContacts which ARE low running resistance tires. I still got about a 10% decrease in mileage (it's been 6K miles since the install and the mileage decrease has been permanent). So I learned the lesson and I will be sticking with Michelin.

Is this TSB only covered under warranty? My car is out of warranty and now with this noise.. If not covered then I would likely just order the part and tackle it myself.
-
My gas consumption has been worse by 4MPG with the Continentals. Over 60K miles at $2.5/gallon it amounts to $420 extra fuel expense. Something to think about.

I have recently switched from the OEM Michelins to Continental PureContacts in 17". However I immediately experienced a drop in MPG from an average of 40 to 36 now. Has anyone else had a similar outcome, is the MPG expected to improve or have I made a bad choice not getting Michelins?

No, there is wiring in the rear doors for tweeters. But seriously, why bother? The OEM speakers are dismal, if you want better sound you should be replacing the speakers all around.

I have been using this magnetic holder. It's $7, sometimes on sale for $4. Works perfectly I am 100% satisfied so far. It does not work with bulky covers though. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OJE1SG8/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AG8AYSVS7E5IO

Now Ford has recalled the C-Max, Escape, Focus and Mustang. Still no new recall for the Fusion however they will do a one-time fix to any other Ford vehicle affected by this problem as part of a "Customer Satisfaction Program" DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 4, 2016 – Ford Motor Company is issuing a regional safety recall in North America for approximately 830,000 2013-15 Ford C-MAX, 2013-15 Ford Escape, 2012-15 Ford Focus, 2015 Ford Mustang and Lincoln MKC, and 2014-16 Ford Transit Connect vehicles sold or ever registered in certain states to replace side door latches. In the affected vehicles, the pawl spring tab in the side door latch could break. This condition typically will prevent the door from latching. In certain situations where the door is able to be closed, the door may unlatch while driving, increasing the risk of injury. Because the rate of reports is higher for vehicles in states with higher ambient temperatures and solar loading, this recall is focused primarily in Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, Oregon and Washington. Ford has identified one reported accident and one reported injury that may be related to this issue. Affected vehicles include those built: 2013-15 C-MAX – Michigan Assembly Plant, April 19, 2012 to Jan. 31, 20152013-15 Escape – Louisville Assembly Plant, Oct. 19, 2011 to Jan. 31, 20152012-15 Focus – Michigan Assembly Plant, Aug. 1, 2010 to Jan. 31, 20152015 Lincoln MKC – Louisville Assembly Plant, Dec. 4, 2013 to Jan. 31, 20152015 Mustang – Flat Rock Assembly Plant, May 28, 2014 to April 30, 20152014-16 Transit Connect – Valencia Assembly Plant, Aug. 9, 2013 to Feb. 1, 2016The approximately 828,053 vehicles affected include 766,682 in the United States and federalized territories and 61,371 in Mexico. Dealers will replace side door latches at no cost to the customer. In addition, Ford will launch a corresponding customer satisfaction program for vehicles outside the scope of this recall. If a vehicle exhibits a broken door latch, Ford will provide a one-time replacement at no charge for the life of the vehicle.

My build date was 6/13. I checked both NHTSA and Ford website and even took the car to a Ford dealer to plead my case. No luck as it is now out of warranty and not on the recall list. Replacing those latches is a major pain in the neck (and expensive - the dealer wanted $230 for the part, I found it for $120 online), so I am hoping my car is recalled soon because I am not looking forward to doing that job anytime soon!

I had this problem, rear passenger latch failed and door opened while driving. However my VIN was not included on the recall and I had to pay for a new latch. Very infuriating! :rant2: I filed a complaint with the NHTSA, hopefully they will expand the recall.
