Quick update. I'm at 28,790 miles with lifetime average MPG of 50.1. Unfortunately it's mid-November so I'll be dropping until the weather gets above 50 degrees. 50 degrees seems to be the cutoff between lower mileage and higher mileage. I won't stay above 50 MPG through the winter but I'm not complaining one bit. Especially with that nice check from Ford all snuggly and warm in my bank account.

Hate to be a contrarian but Oxford White is the better white IMHO. Rarely looks dirty (how do they do that?) and to me it looks "whiter" than Platinum White. Plus, isn't platinum grayish-silver? Do you think the fact that my car is Oxford White colors my opinion? (Pun intended).

Got my check yesterday. WooHoo!! $775. Ordered the car in Dec 2012, built in January 2013 and delivered March 2013. Absolutely LOVE the car. But nothing better than found money. Thank you Ford. Does this impact customer satisfaction? You bet it does! When was the last time you saw a company own up to its mistakes? Look at how GM is handling their problems and how Ford handled this. I'll be sticking with Ford.

EV+ is not wasteful. The purpose is to leave the car at the end of the day with as low a charge level as possible. This is because when you start the car the next day the engine is going to run to warm itself up. Since it will run no matter how you drive it you want the charge low so the engine can recharge it while warming up. If the battery is full you're wasting the energy while the engine warms.

After 23,629 miles my lifetime MPG on the dash is 49.8. I maxed out last fall at 51.7. Then the winter from hell came to the Philly area and I dropped to 49,4 lifetime. Back up to 49.8 but with that many miles it's getting hard to increase it. It's much easier to decrease it.

Ordered 12/28/12 Picked up 3/8/13 12300 miles Avg MPG: 51.5 Love this car!!

I noticed that after I got the software update it learned my home in about 2-3 weeks but it took almost 2 months to learn my work location. I would say just hang in there and wait at least 8 weeks. It should eventually get there.

If your car goes into EV mode downhill at 70 MPH then the upgrade was done. If it wasn't you would never go into EV above 62-63 MPH. Also at 70 - 75 you will not get maximum mileage. I've found that highway mileage is best below 63 MPH or so. It definitely drops off quickly above 65. You do need to learn how to drive a hybrid to maximize the benefits. It is very different than a regular car. That said, if you want to drive like you always have before you'll still get great mileage, just not as high as driving "hybrid-style". I've had my FFH SE since March of this year and have just shy of 11,000 miles and my lifetime mileage is at 51.5 MPG. But I don't drive at all like I did in my previous 2 cars (a Mercedes CLS and a Jaguar X-Type). But I get rewarded every time I don't have to stop for gas. My fuel bill went from about $280/month to about $70-$80/month. I'll take that any day. Bottom line: enjoy your Fusion no matter how you drive it. It's just a great car.

Is that John Lithgow in that commercial? It sure looks like him.

Let's hear it for white! Is yours Oxford or Platinum? I'm an Oxford guy and I absolutely love that it somehow never looks dirty. And when it's clean, man oh man, it's HOT!

Back in the early days of the automobile when I first started driving I owned a 1965 Pontiac Tempest with no options. It had manual steering, manual brakes and an AM radio. You had to be in good shape and mighty strong to drive that car. Parallel parking would turn you into a body builder. I don't know how many people realize how hard it is to drive a car without today's amenities. Ah, the good old days. Have to go now. Have to chase some kids off my lawn..

Compressor stays on when ac button off
Nick P replied to Eddie Sessum's topic in Lounge - Fusion Hybrid Talk
To turn the AC compressor off first turn Max A/C on. The buttons will light for Max A/C, A/C and Recirc. Then turn the A/C button off. The Max A/C and A/C lights will go out. Then turn Recirc off. Now, the compressor will be off and the fan will blow outside air into the cabin. -
Thanks. Picked it up on Amazon. 2 to a pkg for $7. Using the other one for my iPad.

Very quick update. Car just passed 9000 miles and lifetime mileage now ay 50.9 MPG. Also, just bought an iPad screen protector, cut it down to fit my touch screen and applied it. No more fingerprints! Those things were driving me crazy. And the screen looks much better with a shiny surface. I recommend it to everyone with a touch screen.

So I finally heard back from Regional Customer Service and they still tried to tell me that they changed the shifter style and I had the correct leather shifter. I insisted I had the wrong one and they said the only way to be sure is to remove the shifter and check the engineering number stamped inside it. I made and appointment at my dealer and took it there this morning. Lo and behold they confirmed I had the wrong shifter and installed the correct one. At least I know I wasn't crazy. They also installed the axle shims and the popping noise is now gone as well. Hooray!! Now I'll wait for the firmware upgrade recall and begin round 3 with Ford. And the beat goes on.....
