josie3 Report post Posted April 2, 2015 Hi all- my 2012 hybrid allows me to shift into reverse without the ignition started and without the "ready to drive" light on (key is in position 3). Is this normal? Why does it allow this?

josie3 Report post Posted April 3, 2015 Is that spelled out in the manual anywhere- I can't find it? It just seems odd to me it can be put in reverse without it being ready to drive..
GrySql Report post Posted April 3, 2015 Recreational Towing, or 4-wheel flat towing of the vehicle requires you to put the ignition to the ACC mode and move the gearshift lever to Neutral (bypassing Reverse). So yes, you can put it in Reverse with the engine off because of the flat towing procedures.Look in your Owner's Manual for the section on this performing this maneuver.
