Or, I guess I should say new driver. Just took delivery of a 2015 Fusion Hybrid for my company vehicle. For the past 2 years I have been driving a Volt and it sure is nice to have the extra room in the Fusion. Plus, I am a Ford guy with a F-250 diesel and the wife's car, a 2011 Fusion SEL V-6. Both of which have been excellent vehicles.

 

Embarking on a 4000 mile work trip in 3 weeks so I will see how the Fusion does with long drives out on the road. Volt wasn't bad, but it did get uncomfortable after about 8 hours behind the wheel.

Many have done long roadtrips including myself (RT Chicago to LA) and I never felt more comfortable after 10-12 hours behind the wheel.

 

What trim level did you get? The most comfortable are SE luxury seats. :-)

I find the seating in my 2015 FFH SE with the Luxury package to be the most comfortable I've ever had, and the car to be a great freeway cruiser plus pretty good handling when off the freeway on twisty roads. I've had one "long" trip that was 500 miles each way with no problem at all with seat comfort. Enjoy...

Not sure what trim you would call mine. It doesn't have SEL on the trunk like the wife's and there's nothing on the window sticker for trim level either.

 

It is a Custom Fleet Build with Equipment Package 400A and a couple of options like the all weather floor mats. My employer bought several hundred (possibly thousand) of these to replace all the Chevrolet Volt and Ford C-Max Energi vehicles we have been using for the past 2+ years.

 

Only power is the windows and mirrors. It has cloth seats and standard key remote. Small screen audio system with Sync but without satellite radio. None of the more desirable options. The only thing we were able to choose was the color and even then could only pick from black, white, dark gray (that's what I picked) or that awful gold metallic.

 

On all previous co. cars we had certain options to pick from and purchase out of pocket, not on these. It was a "this is the way it comes" order process.

Sounds like you have the base S trim then. The S Hybrid has no trim emblem on the trunk because it is the base model.

 

Why did they move away from PHEVs to regular hybrids?

You should have no issues with comfort.

 

I have found the SE with appearance package, seats to be the most comfortable.

I guess they changed because of space reasons and there were numerous issues with cold weather usage.

 

I'm not really sure. My Volt was in the shop 6 times in 2 years, all for charging issues. Plus, the way I travel, on the road for 2 to 4 weeks at a time, you were running on the gas engine almost all the time. I only got about 32 MPG with the Volt constantly running on gas.

 

All of us engineers griped about the space issue and many times had to rent a vehicle to haul all our equipment. Not sure if the Fusion will be any better in that regard.
