"Check Manual" and wrench icon

Recommended Posts

I'm driving a 2014 Hybrid Titanium, 10 months, 10k miles.

Last night I ran a few errands, and filled up the tank with gas. Around midnight I went into the garage and, thinking it was only 4 degrees outside, thought I'd plug in the engine warmer overnight (because I can).

When leaving for work this morning at 6.30a I started the car, and unplugged the warmer. The Check Manual icon came on while I was in the garage. Down the road a bit I stopped the car, turned it off, then back on to see if the lamp would reset but it came right back on.

Does anyone have any suggestions about this vague and almost entirely unhelpful lamp? I drove my full 30+ mile commute to work with this thing glaring at me the entire way in fear the engine would stall or overheat, or the electrical system would suddenly fail.

The manual says this indicates a powertrain fault, but the handful of posts I've been able to find about this indicate other things could be the issue.

Should I not mess around and take this straight to my dealer?

Also, would it be useful getting an OBD II reader?

Thanks guys.

Hi there,

If you decide to head to your dealer for this, please let me know, along with your mileage. I want to check out some additional assistance.
