Battery dead due to inactivity?

I'm finally back. Yes, the battery seems to be dead.

 

I'm trying to jump start my car but nothing happens when I press the start button. Do I also need to start the car with the physical key?

If so, how can I do that? I couldn't find that in the manual.

Either use a 12 volt battery charger to charge the 12 volt battery using the terminals under the hood or connect a another fully charged 12 volt battery to the terminals under the hood. Then depress the brake pedal and push the start button.

 

The physical key is only used to unlock the driver's door. It has nothing to do with starting the car.

 

Is the battery in your IA key fob good? If not, put the keyfob in the slot at the left front corner of the console. Key ring up and buttons facing the rear of the car.

Thanks a lot for your detailed answer, Murphy. It was the battery booster that I was using. Maybe it wasn't charged enough.

 

I used my wife's car to jump start it and it worked. I drove for 30 minutes with no problems.

However, when I got home and turned off the car, it was dead again.

 

Do you guys think I should drive longer or it is just the battery is bad?

A wet cell lead acid battery is very likely to be permanently damaged by being completely discharged. They are designed to be discharged at a very high current for up to 5 seconds and then immediately recharged.

 

30 minutes is not enough to charge a completely dead battery. Since the only place you can get a new one is at a Ford dealer take it in and have them test the battery on their tester.
