New member with 2015 Lincoln MKZ hybrid

Hey guys,

I bought this car for my wife, who once she saw a picture of the panaramic sunroof on the MKZh, made up her mind this is what she wanted.

 

The car is absolutely gorgeous. We have a platinum dune color, 19" wheels, with 202a reserve and tech package.

 

This is our first hybrid, and your tips on driving have been very helpful. I still don't have it all taken in yet.

There is very little info over at the MKZh forum, and I have heard that the Ford Fusion hybrid is the same engine and battery as the Lincoln.

 

If that is so, please educate me one way or another. I would also imagine that the weight of the MKZh is also more than the fusion and may explain why the MPG is not as good as the Fusion?

 

If there are any other technical differences you know of, please let me know!

The running gear in the MKZh and FFH are basically the same.

We have several Lincoln members here who might jump in to tell you their findings between the two cars.

The only real differences I have found is the MKZh is quieter . I think the extra sound proofing makes the difference and on the long trips the MKZh is more comfortable over the FFH.

I am also an alien on this forum. I have a 2014 MKZ-h.

I got a lot of helpful info here when I was waiting til the time I got out of the lease on my 2011 MKS. The folks here are generous with their experience and knowledge. As you have noted, the innards of the two cars are identical. I believe that the tires used on the MKZ-h are bigger than on the FFH, but that may have changed. That would also affect the mpg.

I am more than satisfied with the quality and performance, and my lifetime average is at the 'sticker' rating. I'm currently at lifetime of 38.4, and it has been rising slowly since I bought the car. A lot of my mileage has been in higher elevations (driving to and from Las Vegas which involves a climb over a mountain pass) so I am quite satisfied. If I lived in Florida, I'm sure the lifetime would be in the mid to upper 40's.

After five months, I still look forward to driving this car. It is quiet and has a solid feel on the road. Enjoy your new ride, and make stopping here a nice habit.

OOH, dealer sticker on the back :gaah:. But great color :thumbsup: . My dealer is kind enough to limit their "advertizing" to putting their name on the license plate frame. Nice and understated, at the top it has "Findlay" in a semi-italic font and on the bottom it has the Lincoln badge followed by "LINCOLN" in a font similar to the manufacturer. They were also nice enough to throw the front license plate bracket in the trunk so the front maintains its classy look.

I had a 2014 Fusion Hybrid for seven months (this is a different story) and now have a 2014 MKZh, first hybrids as well.
With both cars my "lifetime" mpg has been between 43 and 44 mpg doing 30% city and 70% highway driving.
My MKZh is now eight months old and with 19,250 on the clock and my "lifetime mpg" is 43.7 against the original mpg expectation of 45.

This is all about "recalibrating your driving habits" to keep the electric motor running at least 50% of the time.

I just confirm this by looking on my Trip 1 mileage between fill ups.
From what I see when the miles on electric are about 48-50% of the total driven miles you should be in the mid 40mpg range.

Thought for sure the mileage would be less in the heavier car but this has not been the case for me.

My Lincoln dealers plastic logo was HUGE! If memory serves, (yeah, right) that thing was at least a 3.5" X 3.5" square plastic blob. It came off before the engine was cooled after getting it home. :)
