My poor girl

Recommended Posts

Got rear ended tonight, traffic sucked and I had to lock em up, ABS kicked in, but the guy behind me wasnt 100% on traffic and slammed into me.

Going to need a new bumper for sure, dont know if there isn any under bumper damage, but pretty sure something is cracked in there.

Might as well get the dings fixed while its in there. Careless people with their doors. Both my wife and I park far enough away, yet some "walter" will park right next to us and smack the car with their door.

That might snap back together if the plastic tabs aren't too damaged until you get it professionally repaired. i got tapped in the rear a few months ago in my 2010 and the bumper and fender pieces snapped back together. The damage to the bumper finish was only about 1/2" long on the ridge and I touched it up with touch up paint and you have to look real close to see it. I didn't bother to report it. Nothing was damaged underneath. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about that -- like lolder said, hoping that piece pops right back in.

Remember the incident that my wife's car had a few months back? When I took it to the dealer body shop the manager looked at the below rear piece and said "doesn't look like anything is broken there, we should be able to get those back into position without needing to replace anything", so I'm hoping the same applies for yours...

The tabs are all busted on both sides. In fact the entire inner piece that goes up and into the bumper shell is cracked. What I am more concerned about is the underpinnings. After seeing how much damage was under the bumper of the Flex when I hit a deer, when the outer cover barely had a mark on it, you never know. It was a Chrysler Sebring, with the low bumper, and I heard crunching for sure. I also think the rear sensors are damaged, I don't recall hearing them when I backed up this morning. I will need to double check. Since it will go to the family body shop I can have them rub out the door dings from careless people, and spend some time giving it a good cleaning and polish. When I hit the deer with the Flex, it didn't look all that bad, a couple dents in the hood, broken light and bent lip on the fender, but when they got the front torn down, everything underneath had to be replaced. I know this is nothing like that, so hopefully its just the lower valance and cosmetic fixing, and the absorber underneath is OK. He hit hard enough to know we got hit. After our wreck last February in the Flex my wife has been traumatized by it and every little thing out there scares her now, she got physically ill afterwards.

Sorry to hear, my C-Max had some hidden damage in the rear sensors and hatch release switch after getting rear ended. The Ford Body shop didn't locate it until after they started working on the bumper.

Take it in tomorrow to get assessed, then arrange to have the body shop take care of it.

Already did, at the scene too. I felt bad for the guy, traffic was really crappy, and stopped suddenly. The brakes on my car are grabby when going from regen to service quickly, especially after the last update, the regen is softer. My Antilocks kicked in. Had the guy in front of me slowed down sooner, would not have happened.

Anyway, got the check already, just under $1k for repairs, and getting it setup for next week.
