Headlights can turn on with high beams

On most other models that work like that, a short pull is "flash to pass" and a long pull actually toggles a physical switch ON or OFF........and so if you leave them on, the switch is physically in the ON position even though the lever returns to it's neutral position.

If, OTOH, there is NOT a switch that stays in a "high beam" position once you put it there........then I would agree with you that the computer should default to LO when the engine is turned off.

 

 

Apparently you missed, or are ignoring, the part quoted above.

 

Even thought the LEVER returns to a neutral position, it is highly likely that there is a physical "push on/push off" switch involved that actually stays in the HI position once you turn the high beams ON. Thus YOU must turn them OFF at some point in time.......just like HI Beams have worked since the beginning of time.

OK guys lets give it a rest! I can see the OP's frustration, these cars are all digital now, so he would expect it to work different than old school, and with the $1140 option it does. Without it, it wont, nothing can be done about it, he vented his frustration over it, so move on. Any more snide remarks and the thread gets shut down.

I must be missing something? I'm not seeing snide remarks that are worthy of shutting the thread down (not even close). But, it does seem like we are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

 

Part of the new car experience is learning and adjusting to new/different features and the way they operate. They may be different than what you were use to but if you are flexible and willing to adapt to new or different things, then it is no big deal.
