2 Year Ownership Reports - 2013 FFH

I have now had my FFH for two full years, with a total of 23K miles. Since my one year report, I have changed the oil and rotated the tires once. That's it. Nothing else had to be done, except to wash it every two months (White Platinum is great!). My lifetime MPG is now at 42.5, with the Engage reading being 42.9 mpg. This should flip to 43.0 this month since for the last 3000 miles, I have averaged 44.3 mpg. I consider this great since 80% of the miles are at 65-75 mph. My lifetime brake score sits at 96%. No other car purchase could have made me happier. It has also led me to meet several great people from this Forum.

Thanks for the post as it provides a sense of what is to be. I'm at 14K miles today at 18 months. Lifetime mpg is 42.6. Although it will start down again as the temps here are artic now in Central Wisconsin. Changed the oil at 10K and that's it. Most of my miles are not highway so if your getting 42.5 at highway speeds that's great! What is your average outdoor temp if you know?

We do have almost perfect weather here on the Central Coast of California, so I'm sure that helps skew my MPGs upward. 40 degree differences between the high and lows during the day are common, with the fan running without A/C the norm. We were at 39 this morning with a high of 74. Having my FFH in a garage at night also helps the mileage.

My 2013 FFH SE's 2 year anniversary is in 3 weeks. The first year had some rough spots but my Dealer took care of me.

This second year saw a new HVAC installed (TSB 14-0099) by removing the dashboard, a overall 4 day project. This solved my musty smelling A/C problem, a new cabin filter was installed when this job was performed.

I also had Recall 14E02 (Emmissions) done and the oil changed twice with Mobil 1.

 

At the 32,000 mile mark I bought some new tires with Ford's Customer Satisfaction $750 check - 235/45R-18 LRR Continental PureContact with EcoPlus Technology.

The OEM 18" GY LS2's were not bald but were at the wear strips, the new Conti's improved handling and are quiet.

 

Even with all the Dealer time we still enjoy it, from the very first my FFH has been a solid and quiet ride, no wind noise/rattles/squeaks.

It looks great and does what it is supposed to do. I have no regrets.

My 2 year anniversary for the FFH is today.Lifetime summary at 34,066.7 miles is 47.6 mpg per cars computer (45.5 actual), 17,768.8 EV miles, 2192.8 Regen miles, brake score 96%

 

Very satisfied with this Job 1 car. No major problems to date. Still running on stock 17" Michelin tires. Very quiet, comfortable car that yields excellent mileage. Love the ACC, lane keeping is okay but not used much, auto headlights and auto wipers nice features. No problem adapting to and using MFT. Another nicety is the ability to open all the windows and sunroof while approaching the car on a hot day.

Two years for me will be December and I have just under 20,000 miles. Knock on wood....I haven't had the issues many on the forum have had. This is a very comfortable car for me to drive and for Thanksgiving week I'll be putting on about 1,500 miles. The only reoccurring issues I have is the one-touch windows not working properly. The dealer will reprogram and I reprogram and they will work for a couple of days and then quit.

 

Between my FFH and my wife's MKZh I think the FFH rides about the same. They both diliver you to you destination comfortable and refreshed. My lifetime mileage is 44.3. No complaints there.

I had to resurrect this thread, since I bought my 2013 brand new just 2 years ago. I have 52k on it and I still love this car. I'm achieving outstanding economy - 49.3 MPG per manual calc (Fuelly), although my dash lifetime just clicked up to 52.4, which will likely be this year's high water mark with winter approaching. Some of my thoughts, in random order:

 

I still find the car comfortable, with a smooth ride.

 

I rarely push it hard, but when I do, the gearless acceleration always amuses and surprises me.

 

The original tires still look good. Not sure how many miles I'll get - 75k??

 

The fuel gauge is screwy, and I seem to be the only one reporting such a problem here.

 

I very much dislike paying Sirius for what they offer. I basically listened to one station, so not worth it. Their traffic info left a lot to be desired, too.

 

Navigation is OK, but again, I'm not paying for updates. My Android phone handles music and nav duty just fine, which brings me to...

 

Sync with MyFord Touch is a complete and utter disappointment, not to mention a waste of my initial investment. Wish I had not included the option.

 

I put a nice long scratch on the rear quarter panel about 1.5 years ago. Ouch.

 

The front end is low and I've scraped it a few times. My bad. Live and learn.

 

I still have a recall or two or three outstanding. I need to make that appointment.

 

This car doesn't require much maintenance, which is nice. I've done the oil changes and tire rotations myself. Changed the cabin air filter, too.

 

The efficiency, comfort, quietness, and smoothness have made this the best car I've ever purchased, despite a few quirks. Sync is useless to me. Fortunately, Bluetooth connectivity allows for me to cover the deficiencies with my phone.

 

P.S. My wife's 2014, purchased a year later, is tracking about the same. She really likes it.

Are you referring to there being about 2 gallons left when the gauge says "Empty"? Or something else? Ours is the same, as is our Camry Hybrid. Presumably that is to discourage running out of gas.

My wife is an Elvis fan. We only pay for Sirius for the Elvis station. I find the frequent dropouts annoying (might work fine if you live in the Great Plains?) so don't like to listen to it at all.

Really like Waze, especially driving around during rush hours. Problem with the phone though is we drive too many places without service, and having Nav has eliminated the need to carry maps. MFT is indeed a major black mark against the car. I understand that Ford was at the forefront of this technology when they introduced it, but it now hurts the car in every review I've read.

Nah, I actually consider that to be normal. If my F-150 only had 2 gallons left, I'd need to find a gas station in a hurry! What I'm talking about are random fluctuations that usually occur after I've burned about half a tank. At times, I've hopped in my car and driven 30-40 miles, and found that the gauge showed significantly MORE in the tank than when I started! This car is efficient, but it's not magic...
