Pleasing the driving coach

Not the one sitting in the passenger seat.

Not the GPS screaming "recalculating".

Not the car's "Please say a command".

(Why are the voices all females?)

 

I'm talking about the 3 bar coach inside the Fuel Economy screen. (L driver screen)

I ran a test a few days ago.

How do I get a perfect score?

 

Cruising....40 MPH........It loves 40 MPH.

NO 40, NO Love.

 

Braking.... Must be long and smooth to a Stop.

Rolling STOP signs... Stopping is a good idea. Slow rolling through will get you extra points though.

Not braking at all will NOT get you points.

 

Acceleration..... Try to use electric up to cruising speed.

In fact, Try to use electric as much as possible.

 

 

Results were good.

Braking score would have been better, if not for a frightened headphone wearing female jogger.

California has been ruining my brake score. People wait until the last second to brake, so even when I leave a large buffer in traffic, the person ahead of me suddenly stopping will cause me to get a 70ish % score. If you leave too large a buffer, people will just fill it because they think you're leaving that buffer for them. My lifetime score is either 94 or 96 (I can't remember off the top of my head), so not terrible, but it was better before I moved back down here.

Oh yeah, these bastards too. On my morning commute, there's one of these that's at the bottom of a hill, so it's extra fail on the brake score.

Yeah, I agree, after almost two years with the FFH it's mostly 'seat of the pants' hyper-miling, much more relaxing.

The car does so well with just a little help that I don't sweat the small stuff any more.
