I bought my warranty today

Since I'm approaching 30K miles on my 2013 FFH, I figured it's time to get the extended warranty that will cover me beyond 36k miles. Being that I have been driving almost 2K miles per month, I don't want the next 6K miles to creep up without getting the coverage extended. I contacted Ford, and their warranty was ridiculously overpriced. I have used Warranty Direct for my last two cars, and they covered all repairs including when a rodent got into the A/C of my Volvo and chewed his way through it until it was destroyed. I ended up paying $2190 for bumper to bumper coverage for 4 years/100,000 miles.

Has anyone else purchased an extended warranty, either through Ford or through an independent company? Just curious what your thoughts are.

Once you exceed 12 months or 12k miles the price goes up on Ford ESP Warranties.

A lot of us bought our ESP Warranty from Flood Ford.

When I first looked at the price my car had 10k miles on it and the 6-year, 125k mile PremiumCare Warranty was about $1,300.

I finally bought the warranty at 21k miles and the price had gone to almost $1,600 but I had added a few extras.

Be careful with some aftermarket warranty companies. I know that some of them specify used parts instead of new parts. And some of them do not cover the actual diagnosing of the problem.

 

I think it is safer to pay the extra cost and get the Ford warranty.

Ford charges another 100.00 if you purchase a warranty after 12,000 miles. This is the place I use, http://fd-warranty.com. I have purchased 2 Ford Premimum Care warranties from them. In Florida, all the dealers charge the same for the factory extended warranties, per state law. These guys are a Ford dealer in MA. On my Focus, I saved over 750.00 compared to what the dealer wanted to charge my. My dealer actually got a little upset when I told them the price I paid. They claimed it was not a Ford warranty. I told them to go and run and OASIS report to verify it.

 

Extended warranties are a cash cow for dealers, and in Florida with what they charge it a non-starter for me. But, going going to the guys in MA is just good comparision shopping. Just like when you are shopping for a car.

I purchased the Ford ESP 100k/5yr warranty when I bought the car. The price at the time was $1800.

My previous car was a Toyota Prius and I bought a 4 year 125k miles extended warranty. I normally don't buy extended warranties but that dealer would refund the full price of the extended warranty plan after the plan had expired if you made no warranty claim. The only thing I was out was the .02% interest my money could have earned in the bank. After I reached 125k miles I went to the dealer thinking there had to be a catch, but I got a check for the full amount about a week later.
