I see that the door is open on the black Aston. Did you get to talk to the owner?

 

Also, the Astons don't have front license plates? How come? Isn't the front plate required in Cali? When we were there in 2013 I noticed that a lot of the high end cars we saw around Palm Desert didn't have front plates and I wondered how they got out of that requirement.

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't reject a gift like the real Aston Martin ;)

Gkinla has added a whole lot of subtle extras to his car, it is one of a kind. I've seen it and it is a special car, beautiful.

This is a Kapok tree. It's from the tropical rain forest. This time of the year the flowers are beautiful. After flowering, the tree forms these large seed pods that are heavy enough to make dents in your roof or hood when falling. I don't park under the tree during that time of the season. The tree also has these very sharp protection spikes, to protect the bark, as it has soft, porous wood. When the seed pods open the inside has soft fibers, that are used for bedding or filling life preservers.

Fascinating! Being a long time boater I am familar with kapok life preservers but did not know that the filling came from a tree. Thanks for sharing.

Here is a picture of the split open seed pod. We have a lot if wild parrots in Southern California, they just love to eat the seeds. I think the seeds become fermented and when the parrots eat them the parrots really get wild and crazy.

In Texas you have to wear a front plate if the car is equipped to do so. Is it possible the A/Ms don't have an optional front bracket??

RE: front brackets. Some states, although "requiring" front plates, do not seem to enforce this. In Nevada, it would appear that it is not enforced as I would guess (by observation) that more than 50% of cars don't have them, including mine. (My bracket was thrown in the trunk as I requested when I bought my 2014 MKZ-h.) Wisconsin was a different matter, as the law was vigorously enforced.

Here in Illinois as long as you stay out of the city of Chicago (don't even get me started on that mess) not many departments seem to care. Of course if you look out of place it becomes an easy excuse for a stop to see what you're up to so stay out of places known for drug traffic or prostitutes. Take your car downtown and you'll probably get a ticket for no front plate the second you park. Hey, somebody has to keep the corrupt politicians in office, and they love the privatized parking enforcement and stop light cameras up here. :)

My T had no bracket on the front bumper, still doesn't. Front plate is under the passenger seat. The T never goes to downtown Chicago, I try to avoid taking it anywhere near Chicago if I can, but yesterday had to go to Schiller Park, but where I parked it the nose was against a wall. :)
