dalesky Report post Posted June 5, 2014 (edited) My friend just traded his 2008 Vette for the new Sting Ray. Silver with black accents and power convertable roof. What a Machine! Mileage be dawned, that car is amazing, and an extreme value compared to any sports car in its class. The tires are almost racing slicks, the fit and finish is exceptional, and power delivery is amazing. Can't wait for the new Mustang to hit the street this Fall. No HP data yet, but it should be close to the base Vette.Any one else been up close to the Sting Ray? jeffo65 Report post Posted June 5, 2014 A good friend of mine also has the Sting Ray. I have never been a fan of Vettes. I do agree that it looks nice, but there are many other vehicles I would rather have.
acdii Report post Posted June 5, 2014 There is one of these on my dealers show room floor. It belongs to a friend of the owner, and was custom built in Vegas. Its only about $300k for one. 2 jeffo65 and dalesky reacted to this
jsolan Report post Posted June 5, 2014 There's a "Ford Nationals" car show in my town this weekend. Normally it's 80-90% mustangs and a handful of fairlanes, t-birds, trucks, and others. With this being the 50th anniversary of the mustang, I'm expecting the number of mustangs to make up 95% of the cars there this year. Honestly I find most mustangs to be pretty boring as far as muscle cars go. I'd much rather have a vette.
GrySql Report post Posted June 5, 2014 My last Sting Ray was a 1964, we had it a long time and enjoyed it very much. The new ones are beautiful and quite different. No hope of ever getting another now. I've toured the Shelby factory in Las Vegas, it was quite an experience. 1 Boat Racer reacted to this
Boat Racer Report post Posted June 27, 2014 My first Vette was a 1970 convertible with a 454ci, 390 hp 4 speed that got 12 mpg which wasn't a big problem in 1973 with gas prices at 40 cents a gallon. My current 2007 C6 got 30 mpg at a constant 70 mph highway cruise with 400 hp. I have since supercharged it with other mods and it still gets 28 mpg at a 70 mph highway cruise speed even with 650 hp. I have driven it cross country and it's fairly comfortable also (although not as comfortable as my '13 FFH). The new Stingray is supposed to be even more comfortable. I would like to have the new Z06 version with the 650 hp supercharged motor next year when it's available for a fun weekend and track day car but doubt that I could justify the cost. :shift: 1 GrySql reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted June 27, 2014 High HP no longer means gas guzzler. Think about the 365 HP Twin turbo Ecoboost in my MKT/Flex and they are getting over 21 MPG, which is not bad for a BRICK. 2 dalesky and Boat Racer reacted to this
tr7driver Report post Posted June 27, 2014 I had a '72 vette coup. The ride was so bad after about 2 hours on the highway I had to stop and walk around for half an hour. We took a short trip form Pittsburgh to Columbus, Ohio and after that my wife wouldn't ride in it except for short trips around town.

The comfort and quality has improved greatly, hasn't it?Most critics consider the new Sting Ray to be on a par with almost any super car. 1 Boat Racer reacted to this
