Pocket Hose Ultra

I had seen so many of those commercials and finally decided to order one -- after all, that pitchman that used to be on Home Improvement wouldn't steer me wrong, right? I think he said it was guaranteed for life too, so how could I go wrong?

 

I got it a couple weeks ago and it was GREAT.... except for what happened today on the 3rd maybe 4th car wash:

What is it exactly? I haven't hear of the "Pocket Hose Ultra".

They must have sent the wrong one, that is the Pocket Ultra Car Wash Hose that self converts to the Lawn Sprinkler model after four uses.

It's also fun in the summer for running through the sprinkler games!

After that it becomes a Soaker Hose, perfect for the home garden.

 

BTW, what is that Toll-free phone number, Christmas is coming up and I like to be prepared. :)

Hopefully you can get a replacement or a refund from them.

You should know better than trust Al. :) But wait, there's more. That lifetime guarantee becomes void when used of course and it probably says in the very fine small print that you must use low pressure attachments - in other words no nozzles! GrySql got it right with the soaker hose. :yahoo:

Whats funny is I have a 25' hose in a reel that I got 13 years or so ago, sits outside year round, works perfect, not a leak out of it. Then I have some hoses that are supposed to be ultra heavy duty that were outside one year and are cracked and leaking.

Our outside hoses don't leak either. Of course, with our severe drought water restrictions, they have not had water in them for 2 years. ;)

I just drove thru Amarillo last week and it looks like the Texas drought has eased a bit. On I-40 we got awful wet. I hope it continues.

While some parts of the country are facing extreme drought, we're going through major flooding in MN. We've had so much rain that lakes & creeks are bursting their banks. Lake Minnetonka, a big lake in the Twin Cities area, is at the highest ever recorded level.

I'm skeptical about those products. They rely on the water pressure to expand, but generally the attachment you are using relies on the same water pressure. So the pressure is spent expanding the hose and for the appliance. This makes me think that whenever the appliance is in use, the hose would retract since the pressure to expand it is not as much, unless it takes almost no pressure to expand it in which case disregard everything above.

Kuzzi, your comments made me think about the hydraulics principles used in firefighting hose streams. I'll bet you're good at those.

I got this via email today as I ordered the item online -- apparently I can get money back by sending the hose back... except that I threw it in the trash over 2 years ago. So if you ever see that guy from Home Improvement on TV going on and on about how great the pocket hose is, you will get "hosed" alright...

I've had two of these and they all leaked within weeks. The slightest abrasion causes a leak.
