Rental/loaner during TSB work?

Has anyone ever gotten a rental or loaner from the dealer when TSB work is being preformed? Me and my wife are selling her car next week, and now they have the TSB for AC smell for my fusion. However since it's 6+ hours of labor the car will be down for a day minimum, we will need something to drive. Since TSBs are to fix design flaws, shouldn't Ford have to give people a loner/rental?

Nope. The dealer does not have to provide you with a vehicle. But most do out of courtesy. I have gotten loaners but only in a warranty repair situation, not a TSB repair. Most of the time, for in warranty TSB repairs, they pay the minimum for a rental if they need to keep the vehicle overnight. They do not cover the collision damage waiver or any extras.

 

The sales guy I deal with always gets me a loaner off the lot. It's usually something they have on the used lot, but always a ford. I try and bring in my vehicles for service when he's working.

 

I guess that's one of the perks of dealing with the same dealership and person when I buy my fords.

 

The dealer probably has a courtesy van to get you home or to work.

As mentioned, it depends on the Dealer. Mine has an Enterprise agent on the premises and my Dealer has given me a rental for a 4-hour repair (and all the other long term TSB/Recall/Warranty repairs), we went out shopping.

I also saw the invoice that Enterprise charges my Dealer for a Fusion level rental, in this case it was a new Ford Escape they gave me - $21 @ day.

I have an exceptional Dealer.

As SD pointed out, my closest Dealer gives you a ride home in the smelly courtesy van, even for Warranty work - I travel farther just to avoid them.

We have had the car in 3 times. Once for the oil change and tire rotation, once for warranty work and once for TSB work. I have had a loaner offered to me each time and have taken their offer twice. No cost to me. Both through Enterprise.

Recalls say right on them that the dealer will provide a loaner. TSBs usually do not include this language as far as I know.
