Mixed messages from Dealer and Ford website

Wife and I are planning on buying a Fusion Hybrid next weekend.

We want to get the SE Technology Package so that we have the backup camera.

Not concerned about leather.

 

So our e-mail to various dealerships for a quote indicated that we want the Hybrid SE (package 500a) with the SE Technology Package.

Two of the dealerships wrote back indicating that wasn't an option. One said that we have to get 502a and the other just suggested that those options weren't available together.

I'm guessing they just don't have them in stock and were trying to upsell?

 

Am I missing something here?

Read all the Forum links about the 12 volt battery problems and the battery saver message problems. You may wish to reconsider. Also check out the same at the C-Max Hybrid forum. I foolishly bought mine base on the ratings and reviews of the prior 2013 model.

If you read both Forums and check it is a small % that have had 12v problems and and a good number have had them solved. The FORD WEB SITE should be accurate concerning options available and some Dealers are confused, I would check around some more. I have had my CMAX for a year and a half with no problems :)

Just got my Fusion Hybrid a few days ago; hope I didn't make a mistake.

 

The Ford website for the Fusion just sucks.

And corporate support via the site is even worse.

I left 4 questions and did not get one response.

 

I also looked at a Toyota Avalon Hybrid......and found it interesting that the Toyota dealership had so many customers that it looked like an ant hill.

The Ford dealer, OTOH, had sales people milling around.

Looks to me like Ford needs to find some more of those "better ideas" again.

I just did a check, there are 52 pages of new members that joined in the past year, there are 25 per page. So with the number of users posting about BS messages, compared to new users, the ratio is extremely small. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

 

As for what options on which versions, go to build and price site. Build it with the options you want and then you have the option to send it to local dealers to bid out a price on it.

Mine is a job1 and now has over 22,000 miles and I have never seen a battery saver message. Most, but not all, FFH owners seem to be pretty happy with their cars.

 

I am very happy with this car, It keeps getting better. Latest fill-up was 47 mpg actual ( car's computer reported 49.9 mpg), best yet. Car's computer reports lifetime average at 47.1 mpg.

Most Job1 cars did come out pretty good, but there were quite a few that didn't. The real problem that owners encounter is not the car, but the dealer and Ford Corporate ignoring these owners and doing NOTHING to assist or resolve their issues. All this does is put out negativity against the car itself and has turned many potential buyers away. Sad to say not much can be done about that.

Agree. Ford Corporate should have jumped at the chance to get their hands on the BD and find out what the problem was. There are a few others out there with the same situation and Ford just ignores them.

Nick has 11K on his and is still only getting 31 in it. A few others here are still getting low MPG even after the update. Yes, they really should have taken the car and done some research on it. What pissed me off the most was they were going by the dash readout, not the actual fuel used to determine there was nothing wrong. I kept pointing out to them that the dash readout was wrong by showing the Fuelly and hand written logs.

 

I got vindication though, the HyTi is getting exactly what I predicted it to get. Stick it Ford Corporate! (not Ashley and Kim though, they are doing a good job, they can only do so much though)

"Building your own" is one of the problems that needs some support.

It has certain options linked to other options where they should not be and the whole thing is confusing.

I selected my desired interior color and then the site changed it twice "for me" when I selected other options down the line.

To answer the OPs actual question, yes the technology package is available on the 500A. Every dealer has access to the order guide which clearly shows this.

However I can understand that they could get confused by the "Luxury Package" which includes the BLIS, lane departure and so on. That equipment is sometimes part of the "Technology package" on other models but on the Fusion it's called the "Luxury Package". The Luxury Package is only available on the 502A.

There is a "build and price" on ford.com but it the worst build-and-price I've ever seen, showing many "not available" packages and other packages with no explanation of contents. I gave up on it. Are there better places to go for build-and-price?

Edmunds.com and other sites will let you build a car and see invoice pricing. The order guide for 2014 is posted on Blue Oval Forums. The Ford.com build & price should accurately reflect the option combinations available.

I think the only way to sort out all of the "conflicting" options is to visit the dealer and let them "help" you.

During my purchase experience, I got the distinct impression that THEY were somewhat confused by it all too.

Pretty sad really.

It should NOT be that complicated.

Now my antivirus program (eSet) won't let me access much of build-and-price on ford.com.

I'm actually glad that Ford allows so many combinations. One of the things that turned us away from the Camry Hybrid and turns me away from the Accord Hybrid is that both Honda & Toyota offer very few option combinations. Ford, on the other hand, allows a ton of customization of options and packages.

Its just too bad you can't get Homelink unless you get the sunroof. That one puzzles the crap out of me. Not really an issue for me, I like the sunroof and ordered it on my car. The other too bad you cant is the Sony system in an SE, but I guess it ties into the Titanium interior trim.

The visors come into the plant pre-assembled on the headliner. So bundling them together cuts the number of headliners from 4 to 2. That's probably just enough so that the headliners don't have to be pre-sequenced, which makes everything cheaper.

Why not just put them in every car? How much can that little remote thing cost anyway? $30 buys a pair of remotes from Home Depot.
