Is there a screen that shows MPG history for total miles driven??

I see people post what their average MPG is for their total miles of driving. Is there a screen that will show total mileage and the average MPG for those miles. I'm a bit confused as to how the trip #s 1&2 work. I see the screen that will ask if I want to reset. But, as I asked before I would like to know where I can find an average for total miles driven. Any info will be appreciated.

 

I've also noticed those " Fuelly" info things that people have at the end of their posts. How do you do that? Those Fuelly charts and info are cool.

 

I've only had my FFH SE for 2 weeks. and there is definitely a learning curve...a good one though! I really am enloying my new car! I'm only averaging about 37 MPG, but hoping for better MPG with warmer weather and a "break in " period.

From what I've read on here, you can only show the lifetime MPG history in the 2013 model, but not in the 2014. I will be in the same boat as you, as I have ordered a 2014.

If you have never reset trip1 or trip 2 it has the information that you want.

As stated by Kcouture25 the 2014 model does not have the lifetime summary screen. I have not seen an explanation as to why it was deleted.

When you pick up your new car reset trip 2 to get rid of the lead foot driving that was done prior to delivery. If you never reset trip 2 again it will have your lifetime history.

I agree with Murphy. I think ford took the lifetime toggle feature off of the 14s when you turn off the vehicle. I will be resetting trip 1 with each fuel fill up. I will be keeping trip 2 totaling mpgs and lifetime miles unless it resets back to 0 after 999.9 miles or 9999.9. I just got my 14 last week and put 800 miles on it so far so I'll find out if it resets at 1000 shortly. I keep a notepad and pen handy also in case the system does a flukey system reset so I have something to go back on.

It doesn't reset at 999.9. I can verify that. I have 1700 miles on mine.

Thx for the input on the trip not resetting at 1000 Nick. I won't have to worry about that then just other goofy things that started today but I'll probably have to start another post. "CEL and air bag light displayed"

Maybe it resets if your battery is disconnected but it hasn't yet on mine in the ~6 months I've had it.

 

Fuelly will require you to record your miles travelled between fill ups and the amount of gas you put in. I just use my phone to take two pictures every time I buy gas - one of Trip 1 (which I then reset) and another of the display on the pump that lists the gallons of gas and price. Then I add that info into fuelly.

 

Edit: Also, note that entering fill-ups manually through fuelly will give you a more accurate number of your MPG than the Display Mode value (my Display Mode value is ~2.1 MPG higher than fuelly).

That screen only works if you never reset your display mode mpg. I reset mine every trip to view the MPG for that trip. For a lifetime MPG average, you have to use the trip 1 or 2 and never reset it or you're out of luck on the 2014's.

I accidentally reset my trip 2 thinking I was resetting my trip 1. Now I no longer have a lifetime mpg average :-(.

Ah, I just use Trip 1 for the current tank's MPG so I've never reset the Display Mode. It seems like there ought to be somewhere that total MPG is recorded that CAN'T be reset.

I was hoping it would be somewhere in the engineering mode screen, but nope.

 

A lot of people on here like me use the display mode to see the instant MPG for each trip. You should try it. Unless you want to keep the display mode for lifetime MPG, which is fine too. If you haven't reset your trip 2 then you can always use that for lifetime MPG, but then you risk being stupid and doing what I did.

EV miles cannot display the thousands digit on the trip screens so if your trip 2 has 5000 miles and 2500 EV miles it will appear as 500 EV miles. Just an FYI to keep in mind.

Now you have me curious to look, but my wife has the car today and I probably wont be driving it until next Tuesday or Wednesday. Been driving the MKT this week and heading to Ohio for the weekend. Been very impressed with the mileage in the MKT, getting over 21 MPG in 30* temps, even better than the Flex was doing, it was doing good. Can't wait to see what she does on the interstate.

Here is what my 2014 is doing. trip 1 gets reset every fuel up. Trip 2 never got reset (4300 miles on odometer )4300 miles on trip 2 however 133 miles EV(103gal) which means EV reset every time it hit 1000. So from all the trips we ran so far its usually 50% EV so I'm guessing I'm at 2133 total miles EV. Which is what hybridbear is saying.

Yes, my EV miles has reset also after 1,000 EV miles. If you can keep track of how many thousands, you'll be ok with just seeing the 100's place. This sort of made me upset because I was on track for being over 50% EV miles when it flipped. I had hoped to keep track of it through this.

At 10k intervals, the trip meter simply turns over, and still keeps tracking. I just turned over 20k a month or so ago, and I still have trip 2 as my lifetime. I'm curios to see what happens when you get drive time up over 1000 hours (I'm currently at about 600).

 

A few things I've noticed so far, though:

 

Trip 2 is a few tenths different than my odometer, even though trip 2 has never been reset. When I bought the car, trip 2 and the odometer matched, but over the miles they have diverged slightly. I don't remember the discrepancy, but I think it is 4-5 tenths of a mile.

 

I have also never reset my average MPG, so that one is also "lifetime." However, it also is different than the actual lifetime mpg, I think it's by over 1 MPG.

 

It's interesting that there is a difference between the lifetime that the car calculates, and the lifetime of the trip and mpg meters, even though neither have been reset.

They must have been reset at some point though before you got the car which would explain the discrepancy. The Lifetime Summary when you turn the car off likely is from the day the car left the factory. The MPG on the dash which you've never reset was likely reset by someone before you got the car. Other owners have noticed the Trip Odometer & Odometer discrepancy as well. I believe the explanation was that the Trip Odometer uses a less accurate way of tracking miles than the Odometer.

I bought the car with 7 miles on it, they were definitely not reset before I got it. Like I said, the discrepancy is very small. I checked it today, and the odometer is 4 tenths ahead of the trip meter, and the lifetime mpg is 1 tenth less than the trip mpg. There was no discrepancy when I bought it, that has developed since I've owned it.

 

That's interesting that the trip meter is measured differently than the odometer, I'd be interested in finding out how that works. Thanks for the reply.

Mine has not been reset either and has the same discrepancy. Car had 3 miles when I drove off the lot, everything except trip 1 was reset the moment I got in the car. Lifetime is 42.5

My lifetime EV rolled over 10k today. It's really cool to think about that. 10,000 miles in pure electric mode at "no cost" to me. :)
