Servicing blower motor for squeak squeal chirp

Recommended Posts

Brand new to forum. Just bought a used 08 Milan, but also had the same noise on my new 06 Fusion years ago.

The blower motor didn't need to be replaced just because of the chirping noise / squeak. I removed it (from behind the glove box) and thoroughly cleaned up inside. The brushes that ride on the armature seem to kick out a lot of dust. This was easily remedied with some Q-tips and brake clean. Removing the brushes is not necessary-Just tilt the shaft to one side. Also, the copper bushing at the shaft end was pretty dirty, so cleaned it and squirted some white lithium grease in a few strategic areas.

Blower is smooth and silent again, and it only took 35 minutes!

Tools needed: Phillips and socket driver.

Hopefully it saves you some money too!
