Idea for storing pistol in cabin.

Recommended Posts

I am wanting to store a pistol in my car that would be easy to get to....and /or a place to put my concealed weapon when traveling so its not poking me..

I was wondering if i could take some earth magnets and "glue" them to the top of the little storage compartment infront of the shifter. I could then just stick the pistol to them and it would practically be out of sight. I was wondering if these magnets would cause any electronic issues in that spot.

When I've pulled magnets out of computer hard drives, they tend to come with a metal shielding on one side that totally neutralizes/blocks the magnetic field on the shield side. Considering how powerful hard drive magnets are, the neutralizing of the magnetic field is a pretty amazing feat.

Maybe something like this would work for you to provide the magnetic field only where you need it.

When I did the hard reset, I noticed a lot of "wasted space" in the compartment with the LV battery. I was thinking about storing my Jack in there but I was afraid it may interfere with all of the electronic gear in the area. I think you could hide a pistol in a case there if you could keep it stable. Not exactly in the cabin, but it could be a nice hiding place when you to buildings where you can't carry.

The driver side door has a very generous space for maps at the bottom, I sometimes just stick my pistol there. It slides back totally out of sight. I have thought of velcro-ing a holster there for better retention.

Gotta +1 this. That door storage space is massive and you can conceal quite a lot. My forearm disappears in there when I'm cleaning it.

This is something I miss in the MKT, not much storage space at all, the Flex had a ton, the Fusion even more.

A driver side impact by another car might make that a less than optimum storage place.

Well a hit on that side will probably take you out of action anyway?

I've used this in the past but with the map pocket in the driver's side door, I just use the concealment cover and holster and put it in that. Even if it slides forward, you'll be ok in Texas because of the cover.

Too bad that folks feel the need to have to carry a gun period, regardless of where. Today in the newspaper they mentioned folks in Georgia can also have them in bars and churches. Not a good idea for bars - ever.

Once the level of alcohol goes up, intelligence seems to go down. Arguments flare up pretty quickly. Can you imagine a patron being cut off by the bartender for having too much already - Joe doesn't like that response and disagrees - wham bam your dead. Scary. That's why bars and lounges have bouncers, or doormen - they are there for a reason. Now I can see the OK corral events happening.

In my younger years I worked weekends at a 'tavern' that featured topless dancers. You wouldn't believe some of the stupid things people did, most of which was caused by too much booze. Nasty then, but now with a gun on their person, even nastier. Sorry for ranting. Not.

What does any of the above have to do with storage locations in the vehicle?

The U.S. Constitution gave citizens the right to bear arms. It is what it is. I just wish we lived in a world where they were not needed. Way back then is different than now, but the constitution says..... :read:

Lots of arguments both ways and I have no intention of picking sides or trying to stir the pot. I just wish they were not needed in the first place and if that were the case, then needing that case or carrying spot in the car would never have been posted, but it is what it is. :arrive_alive: "Carry" on. :)

Schools are gun free zones. Lot good it did.

Take away guns from law abiding citizens, and only the criminals will have them. Calling Batman!

I just stash mine in the center consul. Probably not the easiest place should I ever need it but....out of sight. I do like the idea of the door and a holster secured to the door storage or right under the radio touch screen. I may have to explore these options. If I come up with something I'll be sure to share.
