Going from 18" to 19"

I've decided I really want the Y Spoke 19" rims. Has anyone done this on their FFH?

 

Should they just slip on without any adjustment? I know my MPG will suffer a little and my ride will get a bit more stiff, but are there any other drawbacks to worry about?

 

Does the system need to be reprogrammed to deal with the larger wheels? Adaptive Cruise and speedo?

As long as the tires mounted are the same that come on the car with 19" rims, the only thing you will need to have done is have the dealer recalibrate for those wheels. Other than that you should be fine. The overall circumference will be different than the current wheels so they need to recalibrate for ABS, Speedo and maybe the TPMS.

Nice!!! Red and Black gives a cool look doesn't it?

 

Yes you can fit them but it's not easy since the wheels are kinda heavy and navigating them thru the doors can painful.

 

I decided why wife can play wheel hauler with her Explorer when I got my winter tires installed.

The guys at the dealership were freaking out over the black chrome. I told them they should offer it as an option. I was surprised the ride wasn't as rough as I was expecting.

Just some anecdotal info. One old tire with rim weighed 54.1lbs, new tire weighs 55.4lbs

 

Just in the few days I've been driving on them, no noticeable difference in MPG. will continue to track. The Contipro tires feel smoother on the road than the Goodyears, but the ride is more stiff.

 

And they already got their first ding when someone on the freeway hit a piece of semi truck tread and it hit my driver side wheels leaving a couple small scratches on the edge. This is why we can't have nice things.

 

Ford should offer these on the hybrids with a disclaimer that it could affect MPG

Mine is in black. I can't wait to get my Y's. These rims are beast. They are perfect, LA Sooner.

I like them a lot, no noticeable mpg loss, a little more stiff, but corners better.

 

I have no regrets on these.
