Damaged rim... need advice :(

I'm so stupid. I was leaving work yesterday and I got distracted for 2 seconds while looking for a radio station.

When I realized, I was in the middle of a curve and about to hit the side of the road (it was not really a sidewalk but I don't know the word in English)

I turned my steering wheel as fast as I could and the side of the wheel smashed against it. I could hear the impact pretty bad.

I wasn't going too fast though. Probably 35 MPH. The rim and a little bit of the tire got damaged.

 

I'm so mad. I'm taking really good care of the car and now this happened. My main concern is if something got damaged in the

direction or axis. I drove it but everything looks ok.

 

What would you guys do in my case? Would you try to replace it? I know it's hard to tell, but do you think that it has possibly

damaged something inside? Please check the attached images.

 

Anyway, I learned my lesson. This never happened to me before but this slight distraction could have be even worse. Not only

for the car. Maybe I could have hit another car or a person. :banghead:

Ouch that hurts and I feel with you. I did a similar thing backing out of a parking spot. I brushed the side of the curb but not as bad as your pics appear.

If the wheel was mostly parallel to the object if not I would have it checked out for piece of mind. The rim itself is mostly cosmetic and can be fixed.

Years ago I hit the edge of a pothole that actually bend the outside rim almost inward. After I had it fixed it wasn't really noticeable anymore.

Ouch!! I'm so sorry to see that! I understand how you feel and I would feel the same way in your shoes. Perhaps the rim can be sanded and repainted.

I made an appointment for tomorrow. I need to make an oil change and tires rotation, so I asked them to take a look at that.

Have the dealer check it over really good. Something could be bent and your alignment may be out of whack. You drove it after and so I think that would rule out serious stuff and nothing broken. The wheel can be re-finished easily enough. What lasts longer is the bruised ego! :drop:

At least you didnt do what I did to my 2010, I slid into a curb sideways when I hit a patch of ice. Had to have the car towed, is busted the wheel bearing.

Pickup up another on ebay and use the old one as a spare tire.

Or 2 can be snow tires.

It happened that the rims from the first link are not the same model than mine, so I asked the seller if I could be

refunded. He was very kind and he did.

 

I'm not sure about the second link because it has a few scratches. I'll keep looking then.

Check again regularly. They always pop up on ebay.

 

 

Not sure the fullsized wheel can fit in the trunk spare trunk hole.

I would ask the forum. They have more experience.

 

I have the 5 spoke sport rims.

A bit pricey as 4 with the tires on ebay.

If, I can get a set of 4 rims only and split them with somebody else. Snow tires.! :)

I have a 2014 ford fusion hybrid SE, just the other day I hit Acura really bad, my front tire on the driver side pop n I cracked the rim, the back tire on the drivers side was also flat. I bought to used tires n another rim just for the time being. I drove to work the next day after I replaced it . Not it’s making sounds like clanking n like it’s flat. But every time I look at the tire it’s not flat. The tires not the exact size but I got the to bigger size in the front n the original ones in the back. I know I need a linement but I’m worried it’s something else. Any type of advice would help so plz share your thoughts
