Official Ford Service replaced

Recommended Posts

Welcome, and thanks for assisting us with our vehicles. I'd like to bring one issue to the floor, as many of us have it and so far none of our dealers seem to have made any headway with it (as far as I'm aware). I'll post the topic below and maybe you can have a look when you get a chance. I'm sure I'd miss something if I tried to explain it all here in one go.

http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/5344-cooling-system-stinks-up-car-even-in-winter/

Again thanks for your time and help.

I second this as corrective action needed, stinky A/C is not the way it's supposed to be. Mine is doing it off and on now too.

Hi Ashley, Welcome!

You mentioned one of your roles is to "...to track any vehicle orders you may be placing.", so would that tracking service be similar to the one that cyberdman is providing in his tracking topic. I plan on ordering, my first Ford order in 27 years, in 3 weeks, after the holiday shutdown, so I was wondering if the tracking you would do, if that would be through this thread, or through PMs?

Thanks, Hybrider

Thanks for the welcome, Hybrider!

I'm not sure what other tracking you've got going on here (I'm still catching up on everything happening in these parts. :) ), but I'm able to tell you the current status of your order, as well as the ETA. Once you've placed your order, send me a PM with your order number and dealer code from your paperwork, and I'll get to trackin'.

Did you get my PM? It contained a rather extensive list of questions and links to topics on the Forum where we've tried to reverse engineer some of the technical aspects of the powertrain. Thanks!

hybridbear,

For some reason I didn't get a notification, but I just saw it and responded. :)

aaronj1159,

This thread is at the top of my list of things to check out!

Ashley - I guess I will need your help in getting my 13S04 recall action accomplished -- I think everyone else here has had it done but I am still waiting on parts. I have spelled out the below so you can copy/paste it over to your supply chain gurus. ...

Thankfully I don't have any fuel symptoms, but since this is a safety recall that was a 'demonstration/delivery hold' I'm thinking it should not go on forever - should I go to a different dealer in case this one is not placing the order correctly? ...

jeff_h,

PM me your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info. I'll look and see what the status of these parts are.

Ashley

I can verify this is not a one off issue too, Every so often I get a whiff of mold or some nasty smell from my system too. I dont use the AC as often as others, so when I do, there is a slight smell that goes away after a moment.

Ashley,

Welcome to the forums! It is very nice to have an official Ford representative participating in these forums and I look forward to following your posts.

It would also be nice to be able to pass ideas back to Ford from FFH owners like us. We may be a little obsessive about Fusion Hybrids, but I'm sure there are some good ideas that could help make future models even better (although I'd certainly welcome some software refinements for my 2013 FFH). My biggest wishes are:

  1. Audible BLIS warning when the turn signal is turned on with someone in blind spot.
  2. Longer following distance options for adaptive cruise control. I'd love to have an option to be able to increase following distance half again as far as the current maximum following distance.
  3. Real climate control buttons rather than touch sensitive surface. It is very inconvenient and distracting to try and adjust the climate controls via the touch screen when wearing gloves in the winter. This pulls my eyes away from the road for way too long. It would be much better to have real buttons that I could feel to adjust where the air blows and how hard the fan is blowing.
  4. Being able to add some of the left hand screen "gauges" to the right screen. For me the right screen is basically unused and the leaf display is just a placeholder that takes up would could be a more useful area.
  5. Grill louvers that did a better job of sealing out air from radiator and engine area when they are closed. When the outside temps fall below zero, my FFH has a wicked hard time heating the interior of the car because the engine temp drops so dramatically during EV cycles.
  6. A locking gas fueling door.
  7. More of the remaining incandescent lights replaced with LED lights.

Those are all great options, I would like to add to this

Add seat heater buttons to the main panel, its annoying to have to flip through screens to adjust the seat heaters or turn them on or off when you have something else up on the screen. I dont remember if the SE had them or not, but the Ti model is only on the MFT.

Add just a little more steering wheel control on the right screen, like to be able to turn the radio on or off, or pause play music. Right now the only way to pause or play(not Mute), is through the MFT and you have to bring up the radio screen for this. (see above).

How soon we forget. The SE, besides on the MTF, has them on the panel.

Easy to forget when you go through 3 cars in a year! Gee wonder who did that.... The SE is just a bad memory now. :)

jeff_h, PM me your name, phone number, VIN, mileage, and dealer info. I'll look and see what the status of these parts are. Ashley

Thanks Ashley - got a call from the regional manager this morning that she discussed the issue with the management at my dealer and they are making sure that the order was placed properly... I told her that yeah I know the supply system with suppliers and sub-suppliers is probably a complex one. However, the room for improvement I see is that the service advisor at my dealer said they ordered the parts and then I heard nothing again until two months later when *I* initiated a check on progress... and then another two months again when *I* initiated another check on progress. So that's what I am going to relay in person to the management at my dealer, that some periodic checks on the order should be done (which probably are) and relaying info to the customer that they haven't forgotten about him/her (which is not being done). Thanks!

FYI... Press sync button. Say "Audio Off" or "Audio On" or "Pause" or "Play". Of course, these commands assume you are using advanced sync settings, which prevents confirmation questions, etc. :)

Ashley,

What is taking so long in updating manage my sync pages, this has been down almost a week and the people who are working on this, do they have a clue as to what they are doing.

Last time this was down they lost my update 3.6.2 in the data base as well as many other people who ended up in the same boat as myself.

Those are all great ideas. The best way to get them into the hands of Ford designers and engineers is to submit them through Ford Social. Those posts are where they turn to for inspiration when designing new features for our vehicles. :)

jeff_h,

Gotcha. I'm glad your CSM is working on tracking the part down for you. Definitely make that suggestion to your dealer. I bet they'll be receptive to your feedback!

IraF,

As I explained in my post, issues involving MFT and Sync fall under the responsibilities of Kim, the forum's IVT specialist. I'll alert her to this thread so she can lend you a hand.

"The best way to get them into the hands of Ford designers and engineers is to submit them through Ford Social".

I'm sorry, but this response ticks me off. By listening to this Forum, Ford would have become aware of issues and suggestions much sooner and with much more relevant details than you have through Facebook type sources. I realize I'm a little prejudice since I do not like Facebook and have had a hard time posting anything on Ford Social, but I think, Ashley, that part of your and Kim's job should be to take what you hear on this forum and pass it on to the relevant people and not just send us to another web site. I am impressed with the help you gave Jeff, however.

B25Nut is correct. Facebook should not be the "Be all and End All" for communicating ideas and issues to any Ford department. If they want to know what's going on, get them on this forum and off the resource best known for selfies and Rebels Without a Clue posting "Hey Watch this" pictures and videos.

That is, of course, if Ford is serious about listening to this community instead of providing fluff answers to hard questions.

I second this one. I feel like there are two or three good things to put on the left side display but nothing very useful for the right display.

Also, welcome Ashley. I love my FFH. :)

Welcome Ashley!

My question is regarding the rear window. Many people (including me) have complained about a distorted view out of the rear window. Can you find out if Ford has changed the manufacturing process for the rear window to eliminate the optical imperfections that cause the car behind you to look like it's been in a bad accident when it hasn't? I have already tinted my windows so replacing it might prove to be a problem, but I am curious if Ford is aware of the problem and has done anything about it for newer cars.

Thanks!

Ashley,

I agree with some of the comments above about how you can pass along some of these ideas far more effectively than Ford Social. In the past some of us have used Ford Social to submit ideas. However, I have found the site to be cumbersome and a pain to use. I really hope that you can take some of these ideas and discussions and pass them along to the appropriate decision-makers at Ford. That is far more effective than the limited text allowed on Ford Social.

100% agreed on this too. You will get far better feedback through us on this forum, than through that goofy social site. Here we can have feedback fro you , while we give you feedback, there, its just a list of posts that we wont even know will be read.

Besides, you cant post pictures there, and if you look at the thread of the MFT screen, that would be a far better thing to send them, than could ever be described on the social site.

Main thing im looking for is the AC stink fix at this point. I have a small warp line in my windshield from the design but I believe thats just the way windows are made those happen. If I were to get it replaced with one without I bet ya I would have a baseball hit the windsheild at 70mph and destroy it.

Ashley, keep us posted on here about the AC stink fix if you can. I pick my MKZ up on monday after they did alot of work to it and put the mildew eater stuff in there but I know its going to come back soon being were having 80* weather down here in winter.

As you suggested, I did search through the Ford Social site to try and see if someone had already posted my suggestions and then posted them there, it would be nice however, if things you gleam from these forums could find their way back to engineers through other channels as social suggestion sites like Ford Social can have a very high noise to signal ration that can cause good ideas to get drowned out. In these forums a problem can get discussed thoroughly and sometimes really good ideas can come out of them. There are also a few really obsessive types here who won't stop until they drill down to the root cause of an issue meaning ideas will oftentimes have quite a bit of research behind them. The grille covers are a good example of this, some folks here have put a great deal of thought and research into using them.

Another drawback to the Ford Social site is that it doesn't have a community of members built up around it who have come to know each other and have truly interactive discussions about issues. I've participated in a lot of forums over the years and this one has a pretty good mix of people, some of whom seem to have great technical aptitude. As a result the discussions can be extremely informative and good ideas do come out of them.

Ashley,

Ford's official stance on certain things is the opposite of reality, for instance - Daytime Running Lights.

I was one of the first to have my Dealer turn mine on, many others have had it done now as well.

In some areas the Dealers cannot figure out how this is done and when some here have asked on the 'Social' websites the official response is, 'it can't be done'.

One member crossed the border to Canada after being told flatly at his Dealer in the US it was not possible, drove to a Canadian Ford Dealer and they performed the DRL activation to his car in minutes.

How can this be? Why can't Forum members like Milleron get this easy service done at his Dealer?

This is something where I would wonder what the dealers surveys look like. I wish Ford would make the ratings searchable online than maybe the dealerships would be much more inclined to get them up being there public instead of just acting like there one of the best.

Eddie, I agree about the different quality between Dealers. It would be nice to have easily accessible Dealer Surveys available to us, the buyers.

I found out early about the differences between Dealers when my first one told me to get out and take the car to where I bought it if I have complaints about the buildout of my car.

My point in writing the above was to question 'why' Ford's official line about activating the DRL's is 'it can't be done' when obviously it IS DONE, easily.

Excellent point - I think many of us have had dealers that don't seem the most forthright about giving information and keeping the customer apprised through a retail order process... yet when delivery day finally comes they tell you how important it is for them to get the highest ratings in each category! There is already an independent site dealerrater.com that has user ratings entered, but seeing the ratings that buyers submit to Ford would be interesting to see.

My dealer seemed really concerned that I gave them top marks, but didn't do things to deserve top marks. I mean how do they earn top marks when the misdiagnose a BLIS issue, unnecessarily replace the driver side view mirror as a result and then incorrectly paint the new mirror in the process? I've literally had twice as many visits to the dealer for them to fix things they mucked up or damaged than to fix issues that caused me to go into the dealer in the first place.

The dealer surveys are a joke, not just with Ford dealers, but with all car dealers. Dealers just seem to want the five star rating for advertising purposes, but don't actually do what it takes to deserve them. It is easier to just give them a five star rating whether they deserve it or not and to get on with my life.
