Weird noise when seat is moving back after you turn off the engine.

My car started doing this weekend. It's doesn't happen all the time though.

When I turn off the engine and the driver's seat is moving back, instead of hearing the soft buzzing noise, I hear a "crack, crack, crack..." noise (sorry, I'm not sure how to describe that)

 

Anybody has experienced this? I would take it to the dealer, but I'm sure that when I try to show them the problem, it won't do it.

Sounds like a broken tooth in the seat gear mechanism. Dealer warranty issue.

We haven't heard any such noise but I would concur with lolder that it is something to address with the dealer the next time you bring the car in.

Yes, I want to take it, but it doesn't happen all the time. Maybe I'll try to record the noise. :)

The seat mechanism may eventually jam. My 2010 passenger height adjustment did. They replaced the whole seat adjustment mechanism under warranty for one broken gear tooth.

You can move the seat back and forth with the controls until you can replicate it enough, then bring it in and show them. Should help move it along.

 

At least it doesn't squeal like a stuck pig like mine did in the 2012 F150. I thought I had trapped a rat under there one day!
