Though not a hybrid, if you were to be in the market for one, which would you choose?

Between the two, similarly equipped with all options( save Park Assist since Mazda doesn't offer it) the Fusion is roughly $1000 more.

Some pro's of the Mazda, City brake assist, and gets up to 40 MPG. Con that I know of, NOISY engine.   Fusion is roomier, has a larger trunk, and has more power.

Between the two though, they are very close to each other.

What pro's con's do you see?

And no, not looking for another car, was just intrigued over the radar assist in the commercial.  See Ford, that is how you advertise cars, Features!

I probably wouldn't look at a non-hybrid for any new car I'm definitely hooked on that part. Besides that the 6 looks equally interesting not as boring as other mid size sedans. I'm not a fan of the bulky front fenders.

The interior looks alright but I say it again there is no other car that I would pick over the FF interior. The manual parking brake looks outdated not sure why you would need/want one. The only reason I would want a manual brake is for donuts & drifting in the wintertime.

After seeing that Mazda commercial it made me wonder why the Fusion didn't have a similar brake assist where it brings the car to a complete stop. It already can slow you to about 15-20 mph. Why not just allow it to bring you to a stop?
Maybe the tech just isn't there yet on the fusion to do that. I know my ACC can't always fully slow my car down enough if I'm approaching a backup on the highway.

Heard rumors the Focus will have it in a year or so. Ford already has the tech, and uses it in Australia.  In fact I think it was on a post somewhere on this site.

When I see the Mazda and toy commercials, makes me wonder why Ford still runs their stupid either commercials instead of 'Focus'ing on the cars themselves. I mean I really dont get the little My Way dude or sour chicken bits. What the heck do they have to do with what the car has to offer?  Almost as dumb as a flying Hybrid.

I think the Mazda6 is a beautiful car - from looks alone, it would be a tough choice between the Fusion and the 6 if the Mazda was available as a Hybrid. But I don't think I will ever drive a "normal" car again - I am used to getting better than 40mpg on regular gas, so I wouldn't take a step backwards and get mid-20's and struggle to get 35-40 on the highway. I will most certainly keep my FFH until Tesla technology trickles down to affordable vehicles, or natural gas or hydrogen vehicles become more widespread and affordable.

I actually just had to make this decision, and it was a tough one.  I loved the looks of the Mazda, and the included tech for a lower price was very nice.  That SOul Red is also goooooooooorgeous.  But I decided on the Fusion because the Mazda has a LOT of road noise.  They must have skipped a lot of the sound dampening in the cabin, because it's pretty noisy in there.  It drives awesome, but you'd have to have the radio pretty high to go over the road noise.  It was tempting though... the gas mileage on the Mazda is super high without being a hybrid.

That right there was what steered me away, even before a road test, didn't do a road test because as soon as the engine started I was turned off by it. NOISY!

Is this the commercial you're talking about?

The Mazda looks small on the outside to me. Just like how the older Camrys from around 2000 looked tiny. I think it's just how the brain interprets the angles & lines. If I weren't looking for a hybrid I would definitely consider the Mazda6.

That's not the commercial I'm talking about hybrid bear. I looked for it online but can't find it. The one I'm talking about highlights the smart brake technology stopping the car by itself.
