What is your average MPG on your 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid?

My average is 40.7

This morning it clicked over to 40.0 mpg for the first time. The 960 miles since the PCM update six weeks ago have a 44.4 mpg average.

(It would be nice if this thread had one post from every member, with no sidetracks or comments)

(Some of us will never do fuelly so this does serve a purpose)

 

(80% of my driving is between 65-75 mph. The rest is 30-45 city driving. I never drive on purpose between 50-62 mph)

My Lifetime is 45.6 I just reset the center average with the last fill up so it is currently at 49.8.

My lifetime is 48.8 I'm over 50 mpg for the last 2 fill ups. My current MPG is 52.7

Its great hearing the different mpg but I think it would be a real aid if we knew what your "average speed" is to get that mileage.

As an example my average mile per gallon is 38-43 but I drive normally between 50-70 mph.

Some of you are getting 40, 43, 47 and 50 mpg... but to be honest what does it mean to me if you are driving in town all day at 30-50mph. :shift:

I drive to work 11 miles, of which it is ever so slightly down hill from where I live.

Many times I'm getting over 100MPG going to work.

8-9 miles are ALL electrical! Going back home I average 41mpg.

 

So you can see it would really be helpful to explain the TYPE of driving you do to get your mileage...........just a thought. :happy feet:

I like the way you think sdeeble. I am averaging only 37mpg at the moment, even after the update and hard reset. The thing is, a large portion of my commute is 75 mph. Then down to 60 for a few miles, then 45 for a few. That's it. On top of it all, you have to have the a/c running here in North Texas, or your butt fries. Well, mine is cooled by my a/c seats, but you get what I mean. :) I would love to see what some of the other forum users see for MPG, but I doubt it will ever happen. Oh well, at least its better than my Explorers 16 mpg.

My daily commute is 27 miles one way. The first 5 miles are at 50mph with small hills. The next 12 miles are at 55mph flat. The next 8 miles are at 45mph fairly flat. The last 2 miles are on Andrews AFB at 25mph.

 

Right now with no A/C needed, I get around 55 mpg to 60 mpg on each trip. The weekend errands around town normally drop my average a lot. I need to start using my seldom used '95 Z28 Camaro on the weekends more!

Here is an example for my commute to work using the ski track app.

 

 

Now that it's a bit cooler in the morning the avg. is a bit lower the highest I had this week was 51.x and the lowest 48.x. Traffic has been kinda bad this past week so might have contributed besides the colder temps.

28 miles each way. Some at 35 MPH (2 miles), more at 45 MPH (5 miles), most at 60 MPH (21 miles). Plus some stop and go in the 35 and 45 MPH zone. The mornings no A/C, coming home with A/C. This is my normal route. I've had as high as 58.6 MPG on this route. The alternate is 1 miles at 35, 4 miles at 45 (stoplights, stop and go) and 28 miles at 70. This route gives me 47 to 48 MPG, but I've had as high as 52 MPG. A lot depends on the idiot quotient. More idiots the lower my mileage.

My experience duplicates SteveB's situation all the way down to my Explorer also getting 16 mpg. :) I'm averaging 37.2 on the cars computer (36 actual) with about 7500 miles so far, although since the software update my last tank was 38, so maybe things are getting a little better. I'm going to try the hard reset on the HVB battery to see if that helps at all. I researched 2013 FFH's on Fuelly and there are several averaging over 45 mpg even at mostly 75 mph highway driving. I wish my car could do that.

Lifetime of 51.7 since the PCM update about 1700 miles ago. Most of our driving is in the city. Click on our Fuelly links below for more details about each tank. Lifetime of the 16,000 miles before the PCM update was about 44.5 including 9000 miles of road trips at 65+ MPH.

My lifetime from factory (took delivery in Feb 2013) is 46.2mpg for approaching 14,000mi. For past 5,000mi I have been getting about 51mpg. My Fuelly "lifetime" is below.

35 miles one way, 40 the other, mostly @55 with rolling hills. plenty of stops and turns, and not enough constant speed to recover from 0-55 acceleration, plus the hills are so gradual that there is very little coasting recovery. Even so, still getting anywhere from 44-48 MPG depending on weather and traffic. I probably would have gone over 47 had it not been for a line of vehicles going slow between some lights and hills. If I could have maintained speed and kept it out of EV for those 4 miles I would have been past 47. I'm finding that on cold days, when its under 50*, staying out of EV, keeping the battery SOC up high while doing 55-60 I am seeing over 44 MPG on ICE, then when in the 45 and under roads, using the normal hybrid driving of EV+ICE is doing pretty good. If I drive it like I do when its 70* and above I am lucky to tap 45.

 

Sure is a different beast from all the other hybrids, and I have driven them all from the Insight, to the Toyotas, to the Fords.

I had a good test for California driving this past weekend: the central coast (Templeton) to Las Vegas. Trip there took six hours, with the speed most of time between 71-75 mph. Elevation varied from 700ft-4,300ft, temperature 75-94 degrees. Average was 43.4 mpg. Horrible traffic on the way back last night stretched the return time to almost nine hours. For the 847 mile round trip, I had a 43.2 mpg average, and my lifetime went from 40.0 to 40.9 mpg.

How do I know if my dealer did a hard reset after they installed the software update? I did the update when it came out but now I'm seeing over a 10mpg drop on a specific route home from work when it's cold out and I have the heat on (like yesterday when it was 38F on my way home). I'm now wondering if they didn't apply the update correctly.

Your drop is from the heat. Pay attention and you'll see that the heat forces the ICE to idle when it would normally turn off. If you watch the power flow screen on the center console you'll see that it references when the ICE is on for heat. When we first get in a cold car we never turn on the HVAC until the car is warm enough to be cycling in and out of EV normally. Until then we just use the heated seats. Once it's warm enough to cycle normally we'll turn on the heat at a low temp setting (65 degrees usually) so that it doesn't suck too much heat from the ICE. City driving in the winter will never warm up the ICE enough to have heat while still being efficient.

 

Yesterday the high was 28 degrees here and I got on 45 MPG for the day (about 35 miles total driving) because of the cold. If the temp had been 50+ I'm sure I would have gotten 55 MPG on those same trips. And my heat penalty is lower than most because I carefully only use the heat when it won't force the ICE to idle just to make heat.

Ah ok, makes sense. I knew the heater would drain the MPG some but I didn't think it would be 10 mpg or more. You're right about the city driving, it definitely seems like I can't get anywhere close to where I did when not using the heat. I don't know if I can keep the heater down to 65, my feet get too cold! I do try to use the heated seats though.

It is 89F here today so natch the AC was on full blast.

Seems the neutral zone is 40-65F outside ambient for my car, that is the only time my spouse is happy with the simple venting system.

We'll have that cooler weather pretty soon so maybe I can inch up a small percent on my Lifetime Average Mileage (since PCM update 3,300 miles ago). Sorta funny that I look forward to our so-called 'winter' so I can get better mpg's.

 

As of today, my FFH has a 39.9 mpg's LTA - over 80% of that was with AC on.

That means I'm getting some good numbers even with my AC handicap thrown in there.

I'm happy with that.
