What does this do? I turn it off and engine keeps turning off, turn the car off and on thinking it takes a reboot to make it stick and it turns itself back on.

And I'm not saying I want ev mode gone. Just would like to kill it off on the hwy.

Auto Engine Off defaults back to "On" every time you turn the car back on. This feature turns the car off if it sits idling for 20 minutes ( or is it 30?). This feature needs to be turned off before loading a My Ford (Lincoln) Touch update from USB memory so the car doesn't shut off during the upgrade.

 

You might be looking for the EV Later mode to disable the HVB and run only on the ICE but I think that is only available on the plug-in Energi model.

Im looking for a way to keep the pos from going into ev mode at 65mph for the most part. If I fight with it to keep the ICE on and keep the charge up for 10 miles i can usually get around 3mpg more than it going on and off. Tested this on the same exact route within 30min of previous test. Keeping the ICE on the first run so id guess climate was using less for the ev mode time.

 

 

Maybe hybridbear has something on this because I saw a topic on another forum he was talking about the poor fuel economy at slowers speeds going off and on vs staying on at a higher speed.

I think your only option will be to have your dealer remove the update, if that's possible. Please don't call our cars a POS. You won't gain many friends here doing that.

There's many advantages to the update. The raising of the top speed of ev is the only real flaw in it. If they would have given us a option to just select a top speed upto the limit for full ev all would be solved. The updated grill shutters, quicker warmup (I'm sure this will be major when it gets cold), and all the ac control. Before the update tho I could get 43.5 at 65mph with cruise on. Now I get about 4 less but can get 40.5ish at 70

If you think your car is a POS then why keep it? Maybe you should direct your comments to a MKZ forum.

 

Maybe you should let the computer figure out when to run the ICE, sure the Ford engineers have a better understanding of the way these cars work than most of us laymen do.

Well apparently the engineers decided to raise the top ev speed when it was at 62 for a reason. Above that the ev mode cycling uses more fuel than just running the ICE alone. Go find a flat piece of highway and test it for yourself since u think they know better.. Do a little bit at 65mph than the same trip at 70mph.. 70mph will get the same if not better.

 

I'm not the only one seeing this as even people on the energi forum see this once there main charge is depleted on the hwy.

Are you agreeing with what I was saying about hwy milage and full ev? Kinda sounds like u wish you wouldn't have updated.

Car does better on the hwy after the update for me. Might be the effect of having hills to drive, but the cycling has improved my MPG by 3-4. Granted I went from 44-45 MPG to 48-50, but I still like the results.

Yea, I'm still refering to flat land. And climate power usage since the update in same conditions is down for me. Don't know if you noticed that or not. I guess it's because it can turn off the fan on he highway and use the normal airflow from the highway to cool.
