Alternate Key Question

I have push button start with the Intelligent Access key.

 

Are there any other keys that will work with the IA system?

 

What I mean is a key that just has a chip in it with no push buttons or battery, that can be placed in the compartment in the console and used to operate the car. The glove box key that came with the car would be exactly what I am looking for if it only had a chip in it.

I am pretty sure the answer to this is "no" - would make it too hard to steal the car.

 

The extra key you are referring to will only open the doors in an emergency, or it

will open/lock the glove box. So definitely not a valet key.

 

Not sure what you're trying to achieve exactly. I bought a 3rd IA key for the

car on EBay and programmed it. I keep it in an undisclosed location in case

I were to lose the IA key while out somewhere. So I have 3 IA keys I can use.

 

The IA key is damn bulky and I've gotten to clipping it onto my belt. That's the

only issue I have with it.

I'm trying to achieve a small thin fob that can be used to operate the car for emergency use and as a programming backup if an IA key got lost. If the battery in an IA key dies it still works in the center console because of the RFID chip.

I looked on the post with Acronym definitions and did not see one for MPGe this must refer to a plug in car but, how is it computed? Can you point me to a thread here?

Nope, no way to use any other key to start the car, I wish there was,
I want what you are saying. Size

 

This is the part though, I bought on EBay for about $65 - god knows what the dealer would want for it new.

If I can find another IA key I can disassemble it and remove the circuit board. That is all that is needed to operate the car.

I have both keys attached to each other, one for the Flex and one for the HyTi.

If both cars have intelligent access you might be able to program both cars to use the same key.
