Trunk release - unlock only, partial open, or full open?

When I open my trunk with the remote or the trunk button on the dash my trunk opens half-way (see photo). I have a co-worker who owns a non-hybrid 2013 FF and his trunk just unlocks but does not open. He also has a spoiler.

 

What is the car designed to do and is it adjustable?

Half-way is correct.

If it doesn't go half-way with a spoiler installed they put the wrong torsion bars in.

Ours opens halfway just like yours. Ours also squeaks loudly and so far the dealer has conveniently "forgot" to look at the trunk when we've had it in there for other issues.

Not if it doesn't bother you. The problem I had was when the trunk lid was fully open it did not take much force to start it crashing down, usually on my head.

It's a problem if you have both hands full of stuff to go in the trunk. I'd prefer all the way open, but I'll take half-way.

Once opened, My trunk lid has never come down from it's own weight.

I have an Energi Titanium that came with a spoiler. When I used to open the trunk it would take very little force to shut it down as comented by other people. Once I found the TSB I took the car to the dealer, but both the service advisor and the service manager at Autonation Ford in Miami, FL said that it was normal and that they compared it other Fusions with spoilers and all were the same and refused to do the TSB. Of course I was not happy with the answer and contacted Ford through Facebook. They opened a case and directed me to another dealer. They even made the appointment for me. At the second dealer, Gus Machado Ford in Hialeah, FL they compared it to a Fusion without a spoiler and immediately agreed to do the TSB. Unfortunately, they did not have the parts, and had to order them. About a week later the parts arrived and they called me to come back to get the work done. After the TSB was done, the trunk opens to about half way (as in the picture from the OP).

 

The best part is that to "compensate" me for my troubles with the first dealer, Ford gave me the Premium Maintenance plan for 3 years 45K miles 9 service visits for free!
