I haven't heard anyone with this problem yet...

Recommended Posts

I drove to the mall today, listening to Sirius en route. When I arrived and parked, I turned off the engine, removed the key, and opened the driver's door. The radio stayed on. I pushed the On/Off button, and nothing happened. I started the car again, turned it off again, and the radio still would not turn off. I could adjust the volume, but nothing else. Then the MFT screen went black.

I turned off the engine, closed the door, locked the car. Unlocked the car, started it again, the screen was still black, but I could turn off the radio. I went into the mall, was shopping for about 45 minutes. When I came out, I started the car and the MFT screen illuminated as usual. I turned on the radio, all was fine. When I got home and turned the engine off and opened the drivers door, the radio went off as it is supposed to do.

I have an appointment tomorrow for Ford to do the software update again; I will advise him of this, but I already know, he won't be able to "duplicate the problem".

Has anyone else had this happen? Could it be related to the incorrectly updated software? Up until today, the only problem I have ever had with my FFH is the express up/down windows needing to be reset.

Never happened to me and its weird. Maybe your FFH MFT knows that a new update is out and wants to be updated. ;-)

Sounds like an issue that was common on the 2nd gen Cadillac CTS. I don't know the technical term but it was a sensor in the door that would detect when you opened it to turn off the infotainment system. Your sensor appears to have stuck on. Worth a shot when you take it in.

I was having some weird issues before Sync quite working and the dealer replaced a steering column module. One of them was the radio and phone sound would stop working after making a phone call. I had to turn off the radio and back on to get to work again. A master reset fixed that issue. Another one was the radio would take a long time to respond to inputs. It would also take up to 10 second to shut off when the car ignition was shut off, or if the ignition was shut off and you pressed the radio off button.

Sounds like a system lockup/reboot to me. Mine did the same thing one day, although while driving. The screen went black, I could adjust volume only, then nothing for a few minutes. After a while all was well with the world. Gotta love Microsoft ! Of course, I might be wrong, but I won't admit to that! ;)

I've seen that a few times on a couple different MFT cars. Hopefully it's fixed in the latest release, otherwise there's nothing you can do about it, it just happens once in a while.

I have had the same problem. I have taken it to ford over 5 times for the same electrical issues. My radio has stopped working. My phone will say the correct number to call but then call someone different, or just cut off before making the call. My navi has gone out several times and caused my center console to not charge my phone when plugged in. They have updated my system many times then finally just replaced the entire unit. I still have problems with the touch screen either not responding to touch or being delayed. I have also have to where the car is turned off but the radio screen turns white and does not turn off. My summery screen of my trip and gas mileage doesn't turn off along with the thank you for driving a hybrid screen. Along with my back tail lights staying on when the car is off and keys taken out causing the battery to completely die. Very tired of theses issues and the lame rental cars for the inconvenience
