Turtle Wax Black Detailing Spray

Recommended Posts

Would this be a good product to use in between using the Maguires?

Part of the Meguiar's clay kit is a bottle of detailing spray, which can be used as needed - though I don't know if that is different from the TW Black detail spray? I bet acdii has used both.

I have! The black detailer spray is dark colored, so is the spray wax.

However, if all you are using is the detailer spray, you arent providing enough protection, you should still apply at least one coat of good quality wax or polish. The detailer is one of those products for enhancing the polish or wax. It helps extend the life of the wax. I use both the spray wax and the detailer spray, and both appear to do an excellent job. I use the wax on the Flex, the detailer on both.

I haven't waxed/polished the car because it has the "Protection" package. The detailer just keeps it looking good. I have actually noticed almost no road dirt, even during all this rain, piling up on the bottom of the car and behind the wheelwells.

The only thing I wonder about with the paint protection is, what it uses and will it have any negative affect if you need panel repairs. If it is a silicone based product, those are nasty when it comes to paint repairs.

Me either, having the Flex damaged and finding out the paint doesnt match well is enough for me to be extra careful I dont get the car damaged. I hand washed it tonight, hopefully it looks good, I dried it in the dark.

The body work they did was perfect, its just the paint they use has finer metallic in it so it has a silver hue now. The metallic Ford uses is a touch larger, and not as much so it has a deeper black to it. It is only noticeable under certain lighting, like directly under fluorescent or when the sun is at that 6 o'clock angle in the summer.

Cool! I might have to get some of that to use. Or does the Zaino spray do the same thing?

Why didn't they use the correct paint? That sounds to me like they didn't use OEM paint.

Zaino does the same thing, but costs more. I tend to use the cheaper stuff for the more frequent cleanings and save the expensive stuff for when I need it most, like between coats of polish.

They use one of the top quality paint brands, this shop has a history of performing work on high dollar cars and they do excellent work. The fact that the paint has finer metallic in it is a sign of quality. They use Standox paint, which is what BMW uses.

Well I had then do repair for me before on a different car and the match was perfect, so I was a bit surprised when I found it didnt match perfectly. The majority of people wont notice it, only those like me would. I have to wait 60 days before I can do anything other than wash it, so once I get the swirls out, maybe it will blend better, if not, I will bring it in and see if they can get it to match better.

I wonder if fixing the DIB would be easier to match because it doesn't have all those metallic specs.

It most likely would. The problem with the tuxedo black is the amount of flakes in it and the size of them. If they arent in the same size and quantity, it shows, it goes back to what I had stated a few times in other threads about tri coats and pearls, if you dont lay them just right, it shows, metallic's are the same way, but not as difficult to blend.

I bet if I took photos of it, you wouldn't be able to see the difference

See if you can notice the difference. Hard to capture with a camera, but stands out in the garage.
