Has anyone seen from their dealers how much Ford Corp is paying for the warranty work on our cars?

 

I saw yesterday on the Service Advisors screen that so far my car has run up $700 in labor and $350 in parts for the existing work on this ticket which includes: axle replaced to try to fix cracking noise (failed repair), door trim panel replaced, leather gear shift knob replaced, gear shift knob fixed again since tech installed it wrong, parts ordered that were broken when tech took console apart to fix his error, adjusting the left rear door that was rubbing on frame. And there's more that they're doing right now but this was the amount the computer showed when I dropped the car off Monday. This doesn't include the 4 different times they've given us a rental while fixing these issues for a total of about 10-12 days in the rental car. I guess we're really getting our money's worth out of this warranty...

I think it balances out - I will hit 16k miles on mine in a few days and haven't been back to the dealer, don't plan to go back until July 15th to get the 13S04 recall check done, along with the ping pong TSB.

I dont plan(and I better not have to) for 10K miles, or 3 months for the first oil change.

BTW, are rental cars given out during the factory warranty period part of the basic Ford warranty,

part of the ESP warranty, or just a Ford/dealer courtesy?

From what I found it depends on the dealer. For a while my dealer didnt have loaners, you were on your own, but now they have them again. If it is through Ford, it might be in the warranty handbook.

Weird thing when I cancelled my ESP to buy the new ESP - they said there was an additional charge/deduction in refund because

I had used the warranty at some point, could not tell me specifics.

 

However, my dealer too did have rentals, then they didn't, but Ford still covered cost of rentals from Enterprise down the street.

That's what I got in the first few weeks of owning my 2010, but wasn't sure if the ESP was paying for it, or the standard

warranty - didn't care. And that was the only repair I ever had on the 2010 under any warranty. So not sure why the

charge on the ESP refund.

 

The dealer tells me now, the cracking TSB would be covered with a rental under the standard Ford warranty.

There are 2 deductions from what I know on the ESP. Time and miles, and warranty claims. If you just got it, and then cancel it, there is a deduction, something like $75. They also deduct for how many miles are on the car and how long you had it since you purchased the ESP, they prorate off that, and then of course if beyond the factory warranty, any claims are also deducted.

Those prices they told you are based on normal pricing. Ford actually pays alot less than that.

 

I believe ford pays dealerships $19 a hour under warranty. Dont know what lincoln dealerships make.

If the dealers only make $19/hr on warranty work then why would they do it?

 

If your friends with your service manager ask him exactly what ford pays for warranty work. You gotta figure most ford techs make around $12 a hour. They have some that get paid more that will come in on harder jobs and give support for questions.

 

And on a quick search I found that as of sept 2011 ford was paying dealerships $15 a hour for warranty work. At that point certain forms of warranty work were paid higher. Internal transmission work and internal engine work was listed at this. I guess because they know it requires a more skilled employee to do.

The warranty labor rate varies from dealer to dealer. Some more and some less. It is dependent on several things such as location, dealer's costs of labor, etc. $19hr isn't even close. That may be what the dealer pays the tech, but not what Ford will pay the dealer. I would place my money on a number between $75hr and $105hr across the country.
