first $500 mistake

i ordered the new MRT exhaust and was very pleased with the arrival, the look, the feel, and the install.

 

however into it for 60 miles a few things popped up like the drone was annoying and the in cabin harmonics were terrible meaning you feel the reverb in the seat cushions - yeah - that bad. So I went to an exhaust shop that i have used for years. he pointed out the system is not tuned and that horrible harmonics should be expected. So i ordered the 13 eco boost muffler from ford for $288 - cat back - i then called MRT and discovered that their unit was AWD only and that i was SOL - he told me to sell it on Craigslist. then he blamed me for ordering a AWD system. In my printed receipt it says FWD and they say they don't make one . So it appears that their greed to get a sale vs. to be honest and say we don't make a FWD exhaust was out of the question. so i will be listing this on eBay for some financial recovery.

 

what a beautiful car that they wanted to be part of and then it comes to this. In my hind site - i could never recommend these guys for a tuned system or customer service.

AWD FWD shouldn't make a difference, the motors are the same, the routing of the system is different, but the muffler shouldn't be.

 

This MAY be why Ford didnt have the twin exhaust on the Hybrid model this year. They may have tried the same system used for the Ecoboost and found the noise level unacceptable.

My hybrid Z has dual exhaust. Quiet as a church mouse. Of course, I have never actually HEARD a church mouse... ;) It's not a TRUE dual, as it has only one exhaust pipe fed to a transverse twin exit muffler. But still... :)

we will see - the exhaust guy pointed out the two uneven pipe runs and said that if it was tuned then the reverb would go out of the pipes not bounce around in the cans. i will know more as thursday the actual Eco-Boost cat back gets here from Ford - two bolts, two hangers, one piece... so i am hoping its the cure - i was more mift by the unprofessional run around and blame game at MRT - they wanted to be included in any press pictures - i guess bad press is still press!

 

I got the ST pedals installed today and was at a gas station and a Ford dealer screeched in there to take pictures and ask me where i got it, who had it, where the wheels cane from, and the whole 3rd degree - i am missing the ST center caps, the ST seat badges, and need to installed the lighted sills then I am done

I guess the "Ford Dealer" didn't realize that Ford does not make a Fusion ST.

Well I dont know about a church mouse, but field mice to make and awful racket when being chased by a barn cat.

All better - Quiet and Beautiful with EcoBoost Muffler and twin pipes - We had to cut the muffler off, flip the pipe 180 and it was a perfect fit - We think that they sent an AWD on accident but we are creative and saved the day from another week of waiting - Quiet as that church mouse and I would NEVER recommend the MRT system on a Hybrid - even if they had good customer service - the unturned aspect creates a mess
