How does blind spot monitoring work.

Recommended Posts

There is a LED on the mirror that lights up when someone is in your blind spot.

You can turn off the monitor, make sure it is on. It is controlled by the left hand screen on your dash.

When I took the bumper cover off the Flex I found the devices used for the BLIS. Pretty neat, a square box on each side thats a simple radar unit. If you ever get the warning that the sensor is blocked, it usually is because of condensation inside the plastic bumper in front of the sensor. You can shut off the car, walk back and smack the bumper on the side near the corner a few times to shake off the water, and then restart the car, and the error should be resolved.

So besides the dot that illuminates there are these other symbols on the side mirrors (kind of looks like a car passing another) that i have never seen light up.

Are these supposed to ever light up? If so, under what conditions?

All i ever see is the dot light up when there is a car in my blind spot.

No the symbol is not supposed to light up. It just identifies what the LED is for.
