Recall Notice FUEL DELIVERY MODULE REPLACEMENT

The dealer confirmed yesterday that our Fuel Delivery Module does not leak so they will not be ordering and replacing any parts. I wonder what will happen with the cars that don't leak when Ford gets an updated part that shouldn't break since they're saying that the ones replaced now might break again...

My Dealer said the same, no replacement now unless leaking. When new part becomes available they will replace as per Recall.

However, he also said that having it checked is a good idea if you smell a gas odor at all. They have to drop the fuel tank to get at it, even to check.

I would rather they do this, than not at all. At least with this it has been acknowledged and they do have a fix for it even if they lack parts. Knowing they will be able to fix something at some point in the near future is better than not knowing if they even are aware of it.

They have parts, after all, what do you think they are building with at the plant? The problem is they only have enough parts to fix those that are actually leaking/broken. Would you rather they not do that and just wait until they have enough parts for everyone?

well actually they dont have extra to fix the ones that are leaking because im going on 2 weeks without my ffh and ford hasnt given them any eta on when to expect the new ones

I understood the same thing. Right now they're still installing the old design part in vehicles serviced under the recall, not sure about at the factory. Because they parts replaced under the recall may begin leaking again they're only replacing the part now in cars that are leaking. Once a new design part is released and proven to work they'll install that in all vehicles with the old design part. I'd imagine that newly built cars from the factory will get the new design part first to test it and see how it performs. Maybe the cars at the factory are already getting the new part since the recall doesn't include the most recent VINs, only Job 1 cars. So maybe all the Job 2 cars already got the new design part and Ford is just waiting to confirm that the new design really fixes the problem before spending hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars to replace this part in all the Job 1 cars

That is my guess too. Since mine isnt on the recall list, it must mean that the part in my car has already been redesigned. It may also be that there are only enough parts right now to sustain the production line, and not enough stock to send to the dealers for the recall.

 

At least I hope this is the case, I dont want any one touching my car!

My dealer said they did not expect anything for the fuel leak until later this year. They don't even supposedly have a fix for it yet? The right hand doesn't know what the left hand Is doing. :(

We took delivery on November 28, so I assume we have a Job 1 build on our FFH. Checked the Ford Owner site tonight after reading here and found this:

My service department did an inspection and confirmed no leak. However, they did tell me that the fuel delivery module will be replaced at a later date when he receives the new parts. They will contact me when the parts get in.

Service department called today and said the new module is in. Made an appointment to take it in next Tuesday. He said they will have to drop the fuel tank to replace the module and he expects it to take about three hours. Asked that I bring it in with low fuel level in the tank if possible. Should be able to do that as the tank is at about 1/4 right now.

My build date is 10/25/12.. I have the fuel delivery recall.. Interesting thing is. I don't recall ever smelling gas in the car. I left mine at the dealer last Monday. They have to replace the headliner since the original fix made it worse and they will check the fuel pump/module for leaks. They still have it!!

Well my Local Ford Service Manager is still doing the Norm for this Ford Dealership, NOTHING. I emailed him directly to find out about the Front end parts and he said Global Backordered, I knew that when I emailed him but wanted to see what he had to say. I also said you know there is a TSB on the Fuel Mod., he did not reply to that statement at all. All he say was, I've put a Repair order in for your Front End Clicking and Popping parts and when they come in you will be called. Then he said he was Very Surprised by the Low rating I gave them in their Local survey. I just laugh and thought to myself, you deserved every 1, 2 & 3 (out of 10) you got.

He didn't say a word about bring your car in so we can check the Fuel Mod. Part to see if it's leaking or not, Nope, all he address was the Front End parts and you know I'll be Last on the list to be called. Wish I could post the dealerships name but wouldn't do any good anyway. This is the Worst Ford representative I've ever seen. Yes, I have called Ford Corp. about this Dealership before. The bad part about this is the Next Ford dealership down the road has just as bad of customer service reviews too.

As long as you state that it is your opinion, your can say the dealers name and location. No liability there. BTW, the Fuel Module is a recall not a TSB - big difference.

Received the recall letter in the mail today. Build date 12/14/12. Along with that, will get the axle click and lobby for the fuel filler nozzle to be replaced.

Ditto, says we'll get another letter when parts are available and that the Dealer will notify me when to schedule the repair.

Really? Another letter when parts are at my Dealer AND the Dealer will notify me too?

 

Now, where's my Software Upgrade letter from Ford, there is a lot to do and not a moment to lose! :waiting:

Just got my letter but mine has been repaired so I guess I can ignore it even in fordowners.com it doesnt show the recall notice anymore

Edit, got a hold of the service manager today, have an app't. for the software and to get a replacement module ordered Monday at OH Dark Thirty (7AM).

I should be getting free scheduled service for the next year for the number of times I've been in for defects. In first two months of owning my FFH, I was in the dealer five times just trying to get the driver side BLIS system to work correctly. They totally misdiagnosed the issue the first time. Also had to have the fuel filler assembly replaced because I couldn't open the fuel door without clawing it open with my fingernails. I'm also one of those who got the wrong gear shift knob.
