TSB 13-1-13 - Audio System Static

Recommended Posts

So I found this:

http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/pubs/content/~WT/~MUS~LEN/3545/tsb13-01-13.htm

I know from day one I've heard some static from my sound system just after starting my car. I thought it related to the noise canceling, but obviously Ford has a fix.

Adding it to the list of things they need to fix on my car. I'm up to 4 items. I'll explain once they are fixed.

I was in Los Gatos all week while the dealership worked on my car. This fixed the stop static completely for me. \o/

I picked up a '13 Hybrid Saturday and noticed it out of the gates. Called today to set an apt up for Friday and mentioned the cutoff date (mine was actually built in April but in the same plant) and she mentioned since it is under warranty, they can run the same ACM reset and hopefully knock it out.

Well my static came back this morning, not as much, but still there.

Looks like it isn't fixed.

I took it in last week while traveling for work and they said since it was an April build date, the TSB did not apply and all of my software was 'up to date' and I would have to drop it off for an extended stay if I wanted them to dig into the cause. I don't care to do that so hopefully a future update may address the issue. Also may go by a car stereo specialist and see if they have a simple filter they could install to eliminate the static/interference sound.

I've had some sort of static/rattle noise from the dash area of my FFH since I first got it. The problem is it only occurs on certain stretches of highway that are heavily warn from studded tires so it would be virtually impossible to recreate for my dealer to hear. I almost think it is a connection or something that has to be vibrated just right to trigger the noise.
