Sounds like what my dealer said a month ago, said they couldn't order any at that time unless it was tied to a work order, so the car would have to be brought in to be checked out. I've been holding out to see posts from others that the fuel delivery thing is now in adequate supply, then take it in to get both things knocked out.

Took my dealer 6 days to get them in and got it repaired today seems to have solved the issue for the moment

My dealer ordered my parts a day or so after the TSB came out in May. After waiting over two months with no word from them, I called. They had the parts, but never bothered to notify me. Installed today on both sides, and, indeed, the click and pop are gone. Hope this holds up.

 

BTW, I did not have the problem when I requested the repair; they were nice enough to order the parts without confirming it. By the time, the repair was done, my car had developed the click and pop, so I was glad I requested the kit when I did. I had to live with the noises for only about a week. I'd think that anyone with a build date prior to April 14, should ask for the repair kit to be ordered for them, whether they have already experienced the problem or not. I'm really curious about why the TSB applies only to cars produced before that date, though. Did Fusion Hybrids build after April 14th have the thrust washers installed on the production line???

How do we determine the build date? Is it printed on the sticker in the door? I will go out and look but I suspect it's some decode of the VIN. Just picked up our second FFH yesterday. First oe bit the dust when a truck t-boned the front end. Never noticed the pop or click on the original and it had nearly 10K miles. The new one does seem much better in build quality as fit and finish were better. I do however have a check engine light come on with only 225 miles on the vehicle! Need to take it into the dealter for that light and may as well have the axles checked at the same time.

 

 

EDIT: Checked the window sticker and it was built on 6/7/2013 so it should have all the correct parts. Still need to follow up the check engine light. Seems like a TSB was out for that.

That's not the build date... go to www.etis.ford.com and input your VIN, and that will give the build date (and no your car is not a Transit Connect)

Thanks for the info. I have been hearing a loud ping/click every now and then, but didn't realize it was an issue. I sent an email to my dealer with the service bulletin asking them what needs to be done to get this fixed.

If you are refering to the PCM software update, then yes. It was installed on my FFH yesterday.

Had Cracklin noise fix to both front sides today, noise gone, drives great, had TSB 13B07 - POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) CALIBRATION done at same time, no noticeable difference so far, only drove about 5 miles or so....

Finally able to get mine fixed, after a month and a half mess of trying to get my leaking tail light replaced and being told that they wouldn't look at the car for the clicking noise until the tail light was in. I go in today to drop the car off to get the light replaced and they inform me that they have the parts to fix the half shafts as well which was an amazing suprise. Unfortunately got stuck with a '11 Focus Hatch rental which is slightly amusing for my 6'7" frame to get in and out of. Hoping they can apply the PCM update as well as look into the 12v battery issue and a few other minor things that way it all gets out of the way at once. Either way I will be very happy that the clicking noise is gone as it has become extremely loud and annoying over the month or so.

After seeing this im glad to see that the fix was issued on all builds after 4-14. Mine got the window sticker printed on 4-19 so i know its clean. Hopefully the same date applys on the MKZ as id guess there the same factory.

Hi Guys,

I got my TSB done yesterday for the click/pop noise. Had to wait for a month for the thrust washer kit to arrive. They did both sides and so far it looks like the problem is fixed.. no noise like before.

 

While the car was at the dealership, I had them take care of the safety recall for fuel delivery module and the powertrain reprogram for improved fuel efficiency. They did replace the fuel delivery module. I didnt see any noticable improvements in fuel efficiency yet, as not many miles after the reprogram.

 

With the reprogram, I did notice that the car doesn't remember my home/office locations. Previously when I'm close to my home/office, it will go into EV+ mode but that didn't happen last night which I'm assuming the reprogram erased. Anyway, I guess its just a matter of few more days before it will pick them up.

I believe this occurred on all who had the 13B07 update, as the EV+ locations were wiped out... it will remember them again, just has to have a few repeated trips again to 'learn' them again.

Finally got the cracking sound fixed in my car this week. My car is finally quiet again. Also had the dealer apply the TSB 13B07 - POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) CALIBRATION. No noticeable difference except maybe I can enter EV mode at 62+.

If Ford has a TSB to fix something I don't think you should ignore it.

If your car has the symptoms, even if they appear to be gone, it probably is a good idea to have it serviced and the proper parts installed.

The service also puts the ball in Ford's court - your car had a problem, you followed their suggestion regarding repair and the history of your actions is recorded.

Why drive the car and worry about it?

Is this TSB only covered under warranty? My car is out of warranty and now with this noise.. If not covered then I would likely just order the part and tackle it myself.
