Very sharp chrome trim, anybody noticed this?

Recommended Posts

Washed the car this weekend and as I was doing final drying with my towel,

I noticed it snagged on the edge of the chrome trim around the doors. Then

I looked closer.

This is on a FFH Titanium. Luckily, nothing happened to it/me, but as I ran

my hand over the edge of the trim, it feels very sharp and pointy and kind of

rough.

Looks fine, but almost feels like it was cut with a tool and if you run

your hand over the edge of it, it comes to a sharp point.

If I was moving faster, it seems the towel could have pulled this off

or bent it.

If you brushed against this spot, it seems like it could tear your clothes

or cut you or worse yet, yank the piece of trim off the car easily.

As you face the drivers door, follow the chrome trim over

the window, go left towards the little triangle window. Where that piece

ends, it comes to a sharp point that is rough to the touch.

Would be at about 10 o'clock.

Also similar at the rear window, but not quite as noticeable.

Anybody else noticed this?

Yes, this is one of the many trim issues I have with my car. Mine's actually sticking out and it could cut your hand as you close the door.

Mine is the same, If you look closely, it isnt the chrome trim out of whack, the drivers side is identical, but the pillar cover is flush, on the passenger side though, both doors are tilted in slightly causing the chrome trim to stick out.

Very hard to see from these pictures and in the ones I took tii. But it is mainly the trim piece behind the triangle

window on the driver side. I went to show this to the dealer/service guy and the Fusion in the showroom had

the same thing, identical even by how much it was sticking out. You can push it back in, but won't stay for long.

So this new piece is on order, there is a re-engineered or re-manufactured piece available. I do

not know of a TSB for this. Many people have this problem.

neod192 said he had it fixed by the dealer disassembling and putting it back together without a new

piece. Seems like it either may be cut a fraction off or too big. Not obvious what's wrong with it

exactly.

The parts for the TSB for the click/pop/crack from front axle are on national backorder. No ETA.
