Gas is down to $1.99 at Arco here in Palm Desert. I bet Californians didn't expect to see gas less than $2 per gallon when they've paid closer to $4 per gallon for so long. Our lowest on the road trip so far was Albuquerque at $1.659.

In Minneapolis the cheapest gas is nowhere near the ghetto. Here the cheapest gas is in the redneck suburbs. When traveling I use GasBuddy to find cheap gas near the freeway. We always seem to end up in the ghetto. We ended up in really seedy areas in Kansas City, Albuquerque & Phoenix by following GasBuddy to cheap gas. Has anyone else experienced this? Is the cheapest gas in the ghetto in your city?

For some odd reason gas jumped 22 cents overnight around here. I filled last night for $1.99 89 octane.

Here the stations always raise the price the day our largest employer, State Farm, cuts their pay checks.  One of the local radio guys actually documented this trend, though the retailers say it ain't so.

I like to game Gas Buddy prices when we travel, but I usually only will use stations near the highway exits.  We usually plan our other "stopping needs" around this as well.  It makes a game to pass the time.  We did manage to watch the local PD bust some drug dealers in a van at a station while we were filling up near St. Louis last summer just before lunch.   We decided to get back on the road and look for a nicer area to have our meal.

I wish there were more stations listed on the Nav system travel link, next to Gas Buddy that is a joke.
