Rearview mirror missing black plastic cover?

Is our rearview mirror missing a plastic cover for this wire? It strikes me that in some other pictures there has been a cover over this and that this topic was discussed in another thread where it didn't fit the topic but I cannot find those posts now so I wanted to start this thread. Thanks

The pic is right-side up on my iPhone and when I download it to the computer, but somehow uploading it to the gallery it go flipped...

I'm pretty sure it looks like that because you don't have all the driver assist electronics on the windshield. Maybe someone with the same options as you can verify. I have the lane assist with the camera, automatic wipers, etc so I have a large area for electronics with a cover on them.

Nope you're not missing anything. Mine is like this, and it's because I don't have any of the automatic things that neod192 listed above.

Ok thanks. I just wanted to make sure since I had seen pictures of people with a different look. I guess their cars must have the Driver Assist Package then. Thanks

And for those of you without the electronics, here is a picture of the mirror with the "black box" from

below. And even managed to get the EZ-Pass there and all this is not easily visible from the

drivers seat.

Does anyone know how to remove that black box cover? I would like to access a 12 volt source in the mirror wiring harness to hard wire a radar detector.
