Physical key with keyless entry/push button starter

I've a 2013 Fusion Hybrid Titanium. It has keyless entry, and a push button starter.

 

Inside of the fob there's a key, which I guess could solely be to open the glove box, but I gotta imagine that it could also be placed somewhere to make the car start. But... where?

You can use it to open the driver's door, but can't use it to start the car.

In the center console is a slot that is shaped like the Fob, drivers side front. If the battery in the fob dies, you stick the fob in there to start the car. The key itself is used to unlock the door, first you use it to remove the cover over the lock on the drivers door.

I'm surprised there's no way to use the key to start the car if PBS fails. My parents' Nissan Murano has a slot that you can stick the key in if the PBS fails. The Camry Hybrid has you pop off the PBS button and put the key in there according to what the Toyota dealer told us when we were shopping

There is a slot that has an RFID receiver in the console where you stick the key. The Prius had a slot to stick in it, the Camry had one in the console too. If the fob battery dies, the RFID chip takes over like the one in the standard key. The Hyundai had a slot in the ignition switch you would stick the fob in if the battery failed, but none of them had a key slot.

Thank you for the info on the extra PHYSICAL key. Just bought my FFH yesterday and wondering what the heck I do with it.
