Has anyone had problems seeing out of their mirrors that are auto dimming due to the window tint?

We have a 1995 Grand Marquis that has dark tint on the rear doors and back window(very surprised that my mom hasn't been pulled over for it, Highly illegal now here in IL). At night it is very difficult to see out the back mirror, but since the fronts are only 35%, the sides aren't bad, but they don't auto dim either.

Thanks, I'm going dark on the 9 windows. I was quoted $220 for LLumar film. The car is the Tuxedo black and dark should look pretty good.

Wish I could. I went 5% on my Flex and it looked Sweet, but came to my senses and removed the back one and passenger doors, but kept the rear sides at 5%. I got some 35% to try out and will do the back glass in that and see how it looks, but want to do my Fusion in 35% which is legal here.

Heres a small correction about the UV.

There are 2 types of UV. UV-A and UV-B.. Standard glass blocks most of the UV-A.. Cheap tint (even limo) doesnt change it much. Neither block much of any of the UV-B (Difference in a UV protectant sunglasses and a polarized (polarized does both).

They make some window tints that do A and B. Wincos is actually one that does. Any dealer that sells that has a demo with a huge sun grow light (the really hot ones) You can see the difference in standard glass, standard limo tint, and than the super light winces tint. You can feel 1-2% of the heat from the light when the limo you can still feel around 70%.

Getting mine done tomorrow, 8-20-13. Same guy that did my Prius 6 years ago. Great work.

He reminds me that the law here is 35% on all car windows. But is willing to do 20 on the back and rear passenger doors. Leaving the front 2 windows 35.

Do you find that 20 on the front (driver & passenger) windows is to dark on cloudy days or nights?

I also noticed that my windows already have a 30 factory tint all the way around.

I need the back as dark as I can, but worry about the front being too dark for me to see out of at night.

And if the front is too dark it draws attention from the law.

I'll just stick with the 35 up front for now I guess.

Just got back from the tint shop. On the front windows I had 35, rear windows 15, and back window 20. I also had the little side windows front & back done. Total came to $230.00 This was Suntek Carbon window tint. Car looks great!! 3 photos are in my photo album.
