I see it a lot, how do I lookup up this, or lookup that, or how long does it take.....

Here are a couple sites that help a lot.

Sticker lookup tool. This can be used once you obtain a VIN and the sticker has been generated. http://www.researchm...icker/Ford.html

Also useful if you are researching a car and want to see what it has on it. If you look at most sites, you get a generic overview, so this is very useful.

Another tool is build date.

http://www.etis.ford...eRegSelector.do  or here.

When you have a VIN and want to see when the car was actually produced, go there and pop in the VIN. It will list the build sheet on a completed car.

Showing what was installed at the factory.

What you can also find out is the average time it takes from when a sticker was generated to when the car was actually produced, so when you get your sticker, Hey when do you think they will build it can be answered.  If you look at the very bottom of the sticker you will see a date stamp.  Looks something like CM121 N RA  2X 325 002495 12 12 12   It's in the group with method of transport and Item #.  This is the issue date of the VIN and/or Sticker.   Now if you go to Etis, and pop in the VIN you will get

Build Date:   19.12.2012

Or roughly 7 days after the sticker was issued.

So to get a rough idea as to how long before your car is built once a sticker has been issued and viewable on the labels page, go to someplace like Cars.com and look up a few cars from there and average out the difference between when the sticker was issued and when the actual build date is.

Finding the sticker lookup tool comes in handy not just for looking up Fusions, but for all other Fords and Lincolns.

Here is a web site that I saw referenced on BOF, I tried it with a VIN that is currently in production and it worked great (tried it on my VIN and it showed nothing, so maybe the info drops off once the car is built and delivered).

I don't think it has all the attributes that Meagan (above) can access such as current location based on the Vehicle Visibility Report, but for those who have a retail order placed and looking for a scheduled build date, give this a try:

I tried that new tracking webpage as well, and was successful only with VINs for pickups. But then again I only tried a handful of VINs, which included at least 1 Fusion and 1 Mustang. However, it did not show the scheduled build date for the one VIN I was comparing to what was posted by cyberdman in his tracking topic area on BOF.

BUT, it is a whole lot more tracking info than the "nothing" that Ford provided before though.

I just tried the cotus.ford link and my FFH shows as in production.  However I get invited to pull the window sticker so I tried that.  Firefox just sat there telling me it was "connecting ...".  Can I assume that the sticker has not been produced yet?

Annnddd one thing that was different.  Dealer info as of last Thursday showed estimated delivery week of April 6th.  Now the cotus page says April 19th.  Which one of these should I accept as "gospel"?  I have parts ordering to do that I want to have coincide with my pickup - or as close as possible.

Thanks!

Go here:

http://www.etis.ford.com/

Click on "Vehicle", enter your VIN and click Search.

On the right side look for "Build Date:"
If the car has been built the date will be there in the form dd.mm.yyyy
If it hasn't been built the year will be something like 2002.
Ignore the "Vehicle Line:", it's a European web site and will probably say Transit Connect.

If it has been built, add 14 days for the train trip across the country.
My build date was April 1, 2013 and I drove it home on April 15, 2013.
I am north of Philadelphia, PA.  It might take a day or more longer to get to NY.

If it hasn't been built go here:

http://www.researchm...yCarOrders.html

Scroll down and enter your VIN in the box to get the window sticker.

At the bottom center of the sticker there is a line of numbers and letters.
At the end of the line is a 6 digit date in the form  mm dd yy.
Add 7 days to that date and that is the most likely date for your build date.
If you don't get a sticker it is more than 7 days until the build date.

That's my problem ... etis does say window sticker is not retrievable; Ford cotus site states vehicle is in production ... but I cannot retrieve sticker - AND there is a different delivery date on cotus than dealer data reports.

I am assuming the sticker has not been generated BUT then why does one site (a Ford one at that) state it's in production?  Why is there a difference in estimated delivery by nearly 2 weeks?

I know ... this is probably a situation where "why ask why?" is a valid response .. it probably "just is". <sigh>  I'm itching to get the car now ... and get the parts I want ordered (donut spare, rims and steeda parts) but I simply desire a delivery date that is 90+% accurate.

If ETIS says it can't retrieve the sticker then it hasn't been generated yet.  Dealers get a daily report that would indicate the week the car will be built.

Dealer report states week of 4/6 for delivery as of last Thursday.  The cotus site states April 19 ... that's why I'm concerned.  I have parts to get from Steeda, Ford and Tirerack with delivery times I'd like to have happen at delivery ... or a day or 2 either way.  With differing dates, I'm not sure of the timing for my orders.

So just be optimistic and order on April 1st. Steeda takes 4 or 5 days, Tire rack about the same, and if you order through Fordparts.com for free delivery to your local dealer, 1 - 2 days if you order early in the day. Would it be so bad if the stuff was there waiting for the car?

Normally I would agree with you and do it.  However, I don't have the spare room to store the cartons I know will be coming ... and I shouldn't expect Goodyear (they'll be using the Tirerack and Steeda stuff) to do so for possibly a 2 week period if the April 19th date is correct.  Also, knowing which of the 2 dates is correct I CAN get the Ford order in and have it arrive so I can stuff it in the trunk of the new car.  It's a matter of timing ... and it depends on the date.

Sorry, I'm sort of a**l on this one, I guess.  There's $1600 - $2300 worth of upgrades/changes I want to do and I'd like to get most if not all done before my road trips around the country. <shrug>

Here is a super quick way to see an active Ford Window Sticker.

www.windowsticker.forddirect.com/windowsticker.pdf?vin=YOURVINHERE

Substitute "YOURVINHERE" with a VIN in the URL and boom -- up comes the window sticker.
Cut and paste..

Example (works Dec 2017)

http://www.windowsti...A6P0RU7HR252504

If you are an Microsoft Office user it would be slick to build a list of links in a document using this.

The label could be the Description and the link could be the URL string above with corresponding Vin.

i.e.

That cool 2017 Black Hybrid Fusion up in Ohio

Highlight text and put this VIN in the link

http://www.windowsti...A6P0SU2HR257524
