Mine was built 11/17 and delivered on 12/4. It didn't sit long in Mexico like some others. My battery saver messages started within one week after delivery.

Someone mentioned elsewhere, short trip, low ICE time could lead to dead battery.  Makes sense too, if you drive short trips and dont use a lot of ICE, the battery doesnt have a chance to recharge for the time it is used to power lights, radio, HVAC and such.

Is the battery only recharging when the ICE runs? Does it not also charge during regen braking? I thought I remembered reading that the 12V battery is charged by the electric motor generator that is used for charging the traction battery both during ICE operation and regen braking

I don't have a 2013 yet but in my 2010 FFH the 12 volt battery is charged by a DC to DC converter that runs off of the high voltage battery.  If a voltmeter is connected to the 12 volt battery with the car turned off and a reading taken (12 volts) and a second reading taken when the car is put in run mode, without the ICE starting, the battery voltage is significantly higher (14 volts).

How long ago did you get the battery replaced? Have there been any issues since? Have you "stressed" the new one for an extended amount of time like when you try to master different aspects of MFT?

If it wasnt so damned cold OUt I would run out and look to see if there is an alternator on the car.    What always puzzles me is if they have a convertor, why even bother with the 12V battery?

It does not have an alternator.

When the car is turned off the high voltage battery is disconnected.  Without the 12 volt battery it would be completely dead with no way to turn it back on.

It was replaced last Sat. No issues. I had to reset my dash and did it in accessory mode. One thing I did find strange. When I reset the dash I had to to the radio and I now have all of the Sirius channels - I mean everything. Before then I only had the basic 6-month try it out trial package. I don't know what happened, but I'm not calling them to find out.

I wonder what the difference is between a BXT-67-R battery, (that is the one the car calls for for a Hybrid) and a BXT-99R-390 that I have installed in my car from the factory, that is for a 2.04 overhead cam. I wish they would post the specs on these batteries and not just the part numbers.

The Ford Parts catalog lists the BXT-99R-390 for the Atkinson engined FFH and a certain standard 2.0L.  They are rated at 390 Cold Cranking Amps (CCA).

The BXT batteries hava a longer warranty too.

From the Spec's chart:

• 100-month limited pro rata/36-month FREE

replacement on Tested Tough MAX (BXT)
batteries.
• 84-month limited pro rata/18-month FREE
replacement on Motorcraft Tested Tough Plus

Series (BXL) batteries

Can someone tell me where in the owner manual it specifies the Fusion Hybrid should have the BXT-99R-390 battery? I downloaded the hybrid manual from motorcraftservice.com and couldn't find any references to the battery type - only how to charge it.

My car also has the 99R-390.

The standard Fusion Owner's Manual has the 96R-500 or 590 for the three different gas engines (PG 294).

The Ford Parts Catalog and my FFH has the same spec and battery.

I believe an error has crept into the system.

A hybrid vehicle should IMHO have a deep discharge battery since it is used to power the computers and accessories but not used to start the engine.

I have not been able to find any specifications on the proprietary battery that came in my 2010 Fusion Hybrid.  I do know that the battery is not available anywhere other than from Ford.

I dont think I would have any problems finding a replacement for this one at Farm & Fleet. The one in the 13 appears to be the same size too.

Thanks! I see it now. Well, since the manual for the gas and Hybrid list the same battery, it has to be a mistake :) The battery in the cars has to be the correct one and it's part # BXT-99R-390.

I wonder at what point the system thinks there is "low battery". I've been having this issue since I got the car and recently I bought a cool battery / charging meter from Amazon. You plug it in the accessory outlet (cigarette lighter hole) and it reads battery voltage when sitting and when running "charging". It always reads in the mid 14's when the car is on, even if the gas motor isn't running. When I shut the car off and pull the key it drops to 12V, or  just over. Now when I check it a little later it reads just over 11V to mid 11's.

That sounds low. It should be reading at least 12. something when not in use.  My wife has our 10 right now or I would do a comparison between the 2 cars with my load meter.
