Looks got my attention, technology sealed the deal

Recommended Posts

So as I have stated several other times on this forum, I have been a fan of hybrid technology for years..

When I saw the unveiling of this vehicle.. I was blown away... then as the videos and such starting coming out about all the driver assist technology I knew that this was the car I had to have.

Bliss works perfectly... lane keep assist is amazing... my son's face when the car "steered itself" correctly was priceless.

Rear sensing w camera just makes myparking sooo much better, and safer...

Cross traffic alert may have saved me once already - less than a week in to ownership.

Thanks to all the people involved with this technology!!!

I agree!

I have to say I didn't realize lane keep had to be activated each time you turn on the car, though - for the first week or so I was just wondering why it didn't work so well (or at all), then realized it had to be activated each and every time. Probably my fault for rushing out of the dealer with the car instead of going through the real intro to the car!

RTFOM! LOL

My dealer is not acquainted with the new tech, I showed THEM how to use it. Then again, they sell more trucks than cars.

My two gripes though, the Adaptive cruise, when a car moves to the right or left turn lane and slows down, so does my car, even though its cleared. Also the Collision avoidance kicks in when someone is turning in front of me, even though they have cleared my path. I guess the front radar has a wide field of view.

However, would not give it up no matter how annoying that is. When I got so pissed at Ford that I wanted to just give this one up for a lessor car that got basically what this one does on the highway, I looked at the Focus. While the Focus would work, it was comfortable, adn did get good MPG brand new, 33 MPG in my test drive, I would be giving up all those cool tech, and decided, just not worth it. So just keeping my fingers crossed that my car gets fixed.

Really loving our 2013 FFH, but kinda wish we'd gotten the lane changing system too. From what I heard, it gives you the front park assist view, and I sure could use that. 1.5 months of ownership, and I still don't have a good feel for where the front of my car is when I'm parking.

I have the Lane Keep Assist.. and I don't have any help when parking in the front.. unless I missed something, lane keep does not help with it... perhaps Adaptive Cruise Control???

There are the front radar for adaptive cruise, front ultrasonic for parking and obstacles and camera for lane departure.

what package do you get "front Ultrasonic"?

The "Active Park Assist w/Forward Sensing System". Check out the description when you build it. "Ultrasonic sensors measure the distance to the curb and between parked cars"

I have to admit that I am attracted by all the tech available on the FFH compared to other cars we are considering (Outback, Passat TDI, Prius 'v', Accord), what I was not prepared for was the price by the time those things are built in to the car. Assuming the same dealer discounts, the Fusion will run several thousand more than any of the others. Of course, the Outback is pretty much off the table for us for fuel efficiency concern, and the Accord is speculative as to price, since we would be getting the "regular" hybrid, not due out until the Fall. So that takes it back to the FFH v. the Passat TDI, since we both feel the Prius is too "appliance-like" for our taste.......and the Passat just doesn't offer all that driver assist tech.

What I cant stand is the fact that to get the Drivers tech, you have to get the Luxury package too. I would much rather have a plain jane with the drivers stuff, the BLIS, Cross Traffic, etc, and install after market leather, and save a few grand. Oh, if you get the drivers tech, you also are stuck with MFT. BOOO Ford!
