Dual Exhaust on Titanium???

The Fusion Brochure mentions "Dual integrated bright exhaust tips" as one of the standard features on the Titanium Hybrid. I was thrilled to see this. I know the Limited Avalon Hybrid did not get the dual exhaust.

 

Looking thru the dealer ordering guide for the Titanium Hybrid, I do not see the dual exhaust listed. The ordering guide is dated 10/26/12 and was given to me by the dealership I was dealing with initially.

 

Also, re-reading the press release on the Titanium Hybrid, there is no mention of dual exhaust as a feature.

 

I certainly hope I am wrong, but I am getting a feeling that the dual exhaust will not be included. Of course with Ford not updating their website so you can compare features, it makes the guesswork fluorish.

 

That would really suck if something that is prominently advertised in their brochure turns out to be omitted.

Just saw new pdf brochure and I do not see the dual exhaust.

Ford has messed up more than a few things with the Fusion launch.

I hope they build their cars better than they market them.

The 15 page booklet/brochure I received from my dealer has the dual exhaust tips listed.

 

Could be a typo ... will have to see what come rolling out of Hermosillo.

 

SE luxury vs Ti trim:

 

- reverse sensing / rear view camera

- remote start

- push button start

- LED rear lights

- SONY with 12 speakers

- aluminum foot pedals

- aluminum sill plates

- 110v outlet

- Intelligent Access

- 18" wheels

- ambient lighting

- spoiler

- SYNC/MFT

- ?dual exhaust tips

 

This is what I think is the difference in the two trim standard options. One can certainly add to their SE trim to narrow the difference if they wish.

Dual exhaust are my brochure too. They are also in the Fusion ipad App I downloaded just a few days ago.

 

But they are no longer listed in the updated brochure.

Don't know if it's a case of marketing getting ahead of engineering or a serious case of bad quality control.

In any case it makes Ford look like a very disorganized company making it up as it goes.

Thanks. On the SE I can add reverse sensing/rear camera, Sync/MFT, 110v outlet. I don't see the Sony with 12 speakers options on the build site in any of the options so I'm not sure if comes with the Tech package. Beyond that, I can't get the push button start, LED rear lights, aluminum foot pedals/sill plats, ambient lighting and spoiler (because of the luxury package). Does that sound right?

 

Writing it all down makes the Titanium trim more attractive... although I don't know if I can get over the standard 18" rims. Granted all these things are more superficial than anything.

Haven't met anyone who likes those wheels. Sanguine and "tolerate", yes. Like, no. Almost like someone wanted to publicly shame/punish hybrid drivers. "Take that you tree hugging, Birkenstock wearing weenies!" I'm sure that isn't the case but ....

 

Haven't heard the difference in the sound system for myself, but the word it is substantial.

 

I think that, the Intelligent Access, push button start, aluminum pedals and rear LED lights are the fetures not available in a factory ordered upgraded SE. A guy looked at upgrading his rear lights and quickly backed out as his dealer dropped a wacky high price ($3k or some such nonsense).

 

I doubt any hybrid driver cares over much about aluminum pedals, but I can't see them too expensive though I haven't seen them offered anywhere. But it is very early days for parts accessories ... still haven't seen a Hybrid trunk/cargo liner beyond Ford's thin carpeted one.

Frankly, the dual exhaust on a Hybrid is just for looks, I'd rather hide the exhaust like other manufacturers do on the Hybrid cars.

I had 2 orders placed and when the SE arrived it was time to decide on what the actual differences were, and how much that mattered to me vs the wait time and price involved. I took all of the options and wrote them side by side, and the below was the difference between my SE order with the Technology Pkg/Reverse Sensing and the Titanium -- it actually came down to the intelligent access and push-button start, which were my favorite options but with the SE sitting there at the dealer lot I decided to save my money and get the SE now.

 

17” wheels vs 18” wheels (I liked the SE 17" better)

Aluminum brake & accelerator pedal covers (I didn't care)

Aluminum front-door sill plates (I didn't care, and I don't they are lighted, could be wrong)

Ambient lighting (Titanium better, but to me the best part of my 2010's ambient lighting was for the cup holders, and it's no longer there on the Titanium)

SE 6-speaker vs Titanium Sony 12-speaker (I preferred the 2 knobs on the SE, wanted a knob for tuning other than push-buttons, plus I didn't like the look of the single knob)

That would definately make up for the lost exhaust tip.

 

Frankly, I will be ok either way with the exhaust. I like the symmetric look of dual but it IS incongruous on a hybrid - part of the reason I deleted the spoiler as well.

This is a great write up. When I price out the the Titanium AWD vs the Hybrid SE with the same options (added the 18" luxury wheel to make it a little more comparable to the Titanium), it comes out to about a $1315 difference MSRP. So is the extra 6 speakers and push button start worth that difference (I with you on the other stuff - don't really care)? I'm debating and more and more leaning towards the SE and using the savings on moon and nav.

Good eye on the interior colors. We'll have to see if this is new or just another oversight.

As far as the dual exhaust being just for looks, looks are a big part of the car buying process.

I was looking forward to that "look", but it's not the end of the world.

 

What is disheartening is not knowing what other titanium features are we not going to get.

For instance, will we get the titanium taillights? And it seems there is nowhere to find out.

Good comparison. The one thing I really liked about a regular Titanium I saw a night time, was when we opened the door, all of the buttons in the center console light up really nicely. That, together with the ambient lighting, made for a very cool scene.

My opinion if you want the dual exhaust get the Ecoboost engine, Hybrid and plug-in's should have no visible exhaust. I see that as an added benefit and something that appeals to the eco conscience buyer. It's not like we don't get the lower bodywork, that's still shown in the pics.

Maybe they should've thrown in something else for the Hybrid like illuminated sills? Or puddle lamps the illuminate a green leaf on the ground (like the Pony for select Mustangs)...

And I believe the remote start remote on the Titanium is integrated with the key fob. It's a separate remote if you add remote start to the SE.

They are both leather seats, I looked at the different patterns, sat in the leather seat in the SE hybrid and that was plenty comfy for me... if the Titanium one is better, I don't think I have the discerning butt to feel a difference as the SE seats felt great.

I'm guessing it's one of those things you can only notice if you sit in both cars for a long period of time. I'd be happy with either one, but they are different.

One of the 2 things that I considered the biggest differences when I was deciding on the sticking with my Titanium order vs or purchasing my SE Hybrid order, was the push buton start/intelligent access and the leather seats. Now in my case I have the appearance package cloth seats in my SE (but I am thinking the SE leather seats have similar padding/support), but I did feel the Titanium seats were more supportive and slightly more comfortable. So far though, my cloth seats have not been uncomfortable, so I havent regretted my decision.
