There's also the elimination of the weight of the tire, wheel and jack eliminated from the mass hauled on every trip.

The place the pump is in has a foam insert, if you remove it, you can put a spare tire there, but you are on your own for the jack. I dont know if the non hybrid has the 12V battery in the trunk, could be where the jack is stored in those models that do have a spare.

I've driven a Camry Hybrid, Prius (Gen III), and Prius C. Even in the Camry Hybrid I was able to get about 5.0 L / 100KM which is 47MPG. In the Pirus C with some effort I could get down to about 4.6 L/100 KM for the hour long city drive which is 51MPG.

 

It feels like Ford is bull on the numbers.

It feels like Ford is bull on the numbers.

We have to wait and see what EPA says. If EPA certifies numbers but real world numbers fall far below, then some changes may be in store to testing mechanism. I find it a little disturbing that the consumer reports highway test done at 65 MPH, the Fusion underperformed badly, while the Camry hybrid overperformed the EPA tests. 65 MPH is a very reasonable speed for highway tests IMO.

Usually LRR tires will be posted as such when you look up tires. I have yet to believe they are, but the Michelins are LRR that are installed on stock Fusion rims.

65 MPH is a very reasonable speed for highway tests IMO.

Considering that our speed limit on all major roads nearby are 65 MPH, I totally agree! Wish the hybrid could stay in EV mode up to 65 instead of 62. Why does the Energi need to have 85 MPH as it's upper EV limit? Would love to have had 5 MPH from the Energi added to the hybrid. I've only been on one road that let you go that fast (and I think it actually was 80 MPH, not 85 MPH - somewhere in Utah where we were driving on a family trip this past summer).

Nevada has a couple stretches at 80 MPH.

There's a newly opened stretch between San Antonio and Austin which is poster at 85.

They ran a supervised test of a speed modified Corvette at IIRC ~235mph. Good road bed.

 

Whether the cars are built for it or not, I think the EPA test should be at common highway cruise speeds.

If you go to the Ford web site where you can see the build date for your car, you can also see the complete build sheet. It specifically says

Style 2 Alloy 18" wheel

Normal Rolling Resistance Tyre

 

If you got the 17" wheel it says:

17 X 7.5 Alloy Wheel Style 1

Low Rolling Resistant Tyre

 

It says that like you had a choice for the 18" wheel which I don't think that you did. I didn't order the car, but bought it off the showroom floor. But there may be other options available for the Lincoln which is probably built on the same line so that's probably why they are so specific. Too bad they don't tell their customers what they are getting.

You may be headed for the Check Engine Light like acdii experienced.

I've only put about 80 miles since delivery but I have seen segments of 46 mpg.

I'm going to start noting the facts of every trip.

He is documenting everything on a blog, I use fuel log on my iphone along with Fuelly and fueleconomy.gov to track my mileage. My daily drive is 35-43 miles each way, so plenty of time for the car to warm up.
