Mud Flaps anyone?

Oh yeah, the mud flaps. Well they look ok, but then you have to drill holes in your loved one to mount them. Well that just is too tempting for Mr. Rust to ignore and I see a potential problem with that. I'll pass. :runaway:

What do you call the things that look like brushes on the UPS semi trucks? Splash Brooms? Muck Brushes?

Spray diverters. They cut down on the amount of spray that comes off the tires when its raining. I dont know how much they actually work,but thats what they are for.

No drilling if you purchase the OEM mud flaps. They use existing holes in the wheel well.

I ordered them, so we'll see. from china though, long wait??

I got them 2/18, pretty fast! They look nice and sturdy, and they come with screws and holes for mounting. Now when my ice melts and it gets warmer I'll install them. Maybe this weekend, it's going into the 50's around here.

I found out yesterday that they are ground squirrel proof, unfortunately. One of those varmints ran across the road and under my car, no way for me to avoid, car right behind me.

My left front tire ran over it and the carcass slammed into the mudflap.

Mudflap -1, squirrel - 0

Is there a difference from the OEM ones to the ones from China? Are the OEM ones made of rubber or just hard plastic? I read that it is rubber so I am assuming the cheaper ones are plastic.

My OEM's were made in Germany and are a soft feeling, rubber-like material and a bit flexible.

Ford has manufacturing plants in China now and those may be very similar, I don't know.

Thanks for the info GrySql. I was actually talking about the cheap ones on eBay which aren't made by Ford but just a cheap imitation. I see a few people bought them and wanted to get an idea on how they are holding up.

Just an update, I received the 18-19 dollar ones from eBay and they seem to be the exact replica. They fit perfectly and have that rubber bendable feeling as described before. Very happy with my purchase so far. Hopefully they last.

I had a set on my Mazda. They fit nice but become brittle in cold weather. The snow/ice build up from the front wheels ended up cracking them.

Just bought a set, stuck with the Ford originals, not wild about the China ones and believe they won't hold up like the OEMs. Thanks for the discussion.

Can anyone attest to the decrease in rear dusting with a set of 4? How about their impact on gas mileage? Was thinking about getting a set due to the excessive rear dusting

I have noticed the rear stays a bit cleaner with the mud flaps on which was the main purpose I got them for. Nothing noticeable on MPG's.
