Climate control questions..

Recommended Posts

OK. 2011 Fusion Hybrid w/sync.

I'm starting to wonder if there is something wrong.

Its starting to get warmer in the afternoon, so I'm wondering if how the "auto" setting on the climate control is working.

Lets say its 65deg outside, warm sunshine. That would imply to me that the interior of the car is well above 70deg.

So I hop in the car, start(heh) it up, and start to drive. Auto is selected with a temp of 65deg, display is showing outside temp of 63.

Here's the weird part....Unless I adjust the temp down to 60, the system blows hot air through the defroster/high dash (front door window) vents.

If I leave it at 65, that hot ass air is blasting for a solid 10 minutes.. This cant be right. It's WAY warmer than 70 in the car, and blowing hot air up the windshield isnt helping.

I would think that the interior temp sensor isnt working, but after about 15 minutes, the fan speed spools down, and it swaps to blowing cool air out the vents.

My expectation would be low speed fan, no heat, waiting for temp stabilization, then turning on the AC pump if needed.

Thoughts? Anyone seen similar issues?

edit: also, in the colder mornings, it works like it should... low or no fan speed until the car is warm enough to blow heat, ad then it turns down te heat once the cabin temp is at 65-66.

Sounds like its working as designed (if the int & ext temp is close it can take the car awhile ((longer than I care to wait)) to figure out what vents, fan speed) to use.

Thanks for the reply.

I guess it could be that the temps are close, I just hope when the desert heat gets here I don't have to drive with the heater/defroster on heat for 10 minutes every afternoon.

cheers
