HID install on 2010 completed

Recommended Posts

I've completed my switch out of the low beams to HIDs, using the Digital Slim kit from DDM Tuning.

I went with the 35W (plenty of power) at 5000K.

Side by side with the stock bulbs.

I'd never done a switch like this before, so a guy I work with who's done probably over a dozen of these did most of the heavy lifting. In his words "this is the hardest car I've ever done, I'll never volunteer to do a Fusion again."

To access each bulb we used the owners manual suggested method of accessing the bulbs, which BTW is the biggest load of crap. While removing the airbox housing to change a bulb isn't the end of the world, the process of removing the passenger side wheel well is insane. It's like a bunch of Ford engineers got high when coming up with that method and thought it be funny to leave it like that.

After gaining access we snipped the stock harness and soldered/shrink-wrapped the wiring together for a proper clean connection. All of that was done inside of the chassis of the car, which on the driver side wasn't too huge of a chore. On the passenger side we looked like a couple of doctors performing surgery, feeding a soldering iron up through the bottom while holding the wires still, and the other with the eyes on the operation held the lead down from the top. At this point they are hard wired in and there is no going back. It would honestly be a bigger process to go back then going to this point.

But they look great in my opinion. It was worth the 4 hours of work it took to figure it out. This is of course compared to the 15 minutes it took my friend to do his father-in-law's Jeep last weekend. Anyone interested in this swap be aware, it's not an easy process.

Looks good, I'm looking at the same exact kit (35w / 5k). I'm not going to hard-wire them like you did however, not sure how much the dealership would appreciate that when I come off lease. Did you need any other parts that DDM offers like the Error Eliminator or the HID Harness?

Yeah I own mine, so to hell with what the dealer thinks. ;) When I decide to dump it the next owner can get the HIDs for free.

No eliminator was required. Everything fired right up with no codes.
